Lottery tickets are common among people who are feeling lucky. Whether you’re willing to test your luck or just looking to make some quick cash, they’re a gamble that could potentially pay off. However, it seems like we all need to be a little more cautious now when cashing in our winning tickets.
There have been many cases of clerks who tell winners that they’ve actually lost, only to pretend they’re throwing out the ticket when in fact that are keeping the winnings for themselves! It’s important to check the ticket properly to see if you won in order to avoid being scammed by a cashier.
A cashier named Crystelle Yvette Baton recently got in trouble for this same phenomenon. She worked at the Winn-Dixie Liquors in Fort Myers, Florida and tried shamefully tricking one of her customers, only to end up with a surprise of their own!

A customer approached Crystelle in order to claim the winnings on his lottery ticket. Once Crystelle scanned the ticket and realized that the ticket was a winner for $600, she decided to scam the man and keep the winnings for herself. She told the man that the ticket was only a winner for a prize of $5, pulling the money from her own purse and shamefully handing it to him.

However, unbeknownst to her, she had scammed the wrong customer this time. This man was no ordinary customer at all! After leaving the area, he quickly returned to Crystelle’s register and revealed who he truly was. The winning ticket was later found in the middle of her personal notebook!
