The past few years have marked changes in actress Candace Cameron Bure’s life. She moved networks and is now part of the “Great American Family” media network. In April 2024, she also revealed she and her family moved out of Los Angeles. She is not the only Hollywood celebrity to have made the move, as many celebrities have been relocating from the entertainment hub. Many questions arose as to why the “Great American Family” actress left the center of the entertainment industry, and Candace took some time to explain the reasons that led to her making such a decision.
The “Full House” actress, 48, is married to Russian ice hockey player Valeri Bure, and the two have three children, all of whom have left the nest in the past few years. She recently opened up to Fox News about her reasons for re-establishing a family home away from Los Angeles.
“We didn’t feel safe anymore,” she confessed. “And that was the biggest reason that we moved.”
She went on to explain that despite living in an affluent area, not everyone in Los Angeles could rely on the security of living in gated homes, saying:
“Not everyone in Hollywood lives behind guard gates, and we weren’t behind gates.”
Candace explained that because of this, her family faced “quite a few problems over the years” regarding safety and security, as fans and paparazzi could easily come to their door, hide on their property and take pictures of them without permission.
Recalling everything she and her family endured while living in Los Angeles to Fox News, Candace shared the implications of being a famous person and people having access to your home. She said that all this made it “unnerving” for her as a person simply trying to exist as an ordinary person.
“It’s amazing what people feel they can do,” she said. “And wanting to be a part of your life in some way. Some of it is innocent, some of it wasn’t. But it’s quite unnerving when you’re just trying to be a person and live life, and you don’t know what’s around the corner.”
This wasn’t the first time the actress had addressed this matter, having previously shared the news with her fans in an Instagram story.
“Many of you have asked, ‘Did you move?’ Yes.’” She added,” ‘Why?’ Mostly for security reasons. Also, family dynamics have changed. The kids don’t live in Los Angeles anymore. Mama will go where they go! I travel a lot. The seasons of life.”
She further clarified that contrary to what’s being said on social media, she didn’t move too far and still resides in California.
“There have been all kinds of stories as to where we moved, and none of them are right,” Candace shared. “None of them. We didn’t move to Nashville. We didn’t move to Texas. We’re actually still in California. We just moved up north. We’re no longer in Los Angeles.”
Despite being empty-nesters, Candace and her husband remain close with their children.
“We cultivated those strong relationships as they were young and all throughout their years in their small youth and then teenage years,” Candace said.
Given the reasons behind the move, it makes sense that Candace and her husband made this decision.
