If Alex Trebek had access to a time machine, there is one critical date in the past to which he would return: the day that he fell in love with his wife. Alex Trebek has been the popular host of the iconic game show Jeopardy for decades.

He has recently revealed his cancer diagnosis to the public. In January, the Canadian TV host offered a candid interview to People Magazine. This interview was given before his diagnosis was made public.

Alex Trebek told People that he was satisfied with his life overall. However, the recent passing of former President George H. W. Bush gave the Jeopardy host something to think about.

"I was thinking about President Bush when he died, and all the comments about his life about what a nice guy he is, and how he and his wife had been together 73 years," he said, "I thought, oh my gosh … if I’d just met Jean in my 20s we could have had a longer life together.”

He vividly remembers all of the comments that talked about the former president's life. George H. W. Bush had been with his beloved wife for 73 years. Impressed by this number, Alex Trebek began wondering if he could have spent more time with his wife. He thought that they could have had more time together if they would have met in their 20s.

The iconic host jokingly mentioned that his wife wasn't born when he was still in his 20s. Although Alex Trebek hasn't been with his wife quite as long as former President Bush, he has still accomplished an impressive marriage of 29 years and counting.

Within a few months of the interview, Jean and Alex had to face a difficult obstacle that is threatening their relationship.

The Jeopardy host revealed the horrifying news with an uplifting amount of support and love in response. He is currently receiving treatment for stage-four pancreatic cancer.

"Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year," he said, "this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer."

Trebek promised to "fight" the disease without leaving his position as host of Jeopardy.

The host acknowledged that his diagnosis was not encouraging. Despite the severity of this disease, Alex Trebek vowed to continue working for a full recovery. Even with his grim diagnosis, the Jeopardy host is determined to keep a positive attitude.

He mentioned that the support and love coming from friends and family will act as support for his battle. Alex Trebek also expressed his appreciation for prayers offered by his fans.

Fortunately, Alex Trebek doesn't have to face his fight alone. His beloved wife Jean and their two children Emily, 27 and Matthew, 29, won't ever leave his side. In the same interview with People, Trebek's wife Jean talked about her beloved husband.

“He’s got a great sense of humor,” she said. “He takes his job very seriously, but won’t take himself too seriously. He’s also youthful - He’s just an intelligent human being,”

She mentioned that the host has an enjoyable sense of humor. Despite his dedication to hosting Jeopardy, Alex Trebek remains a humble individual. His wife Jean also mentioned his youthfulness which is achieved by Alex's constant curiosity.
