More and more couples are asking themselves, "Who invented this one bed system?" People need space, and have different sleeping habits and quirks that may cause stress and discomfort for their partner.
Sleeping in separate beds and quarters used to be a sign of affluence. Most people today associate separate beds with their grandparents, which should mean that it's an antiquated practice.
This couldn't be further from the truth, as more and more young couples are starting to sleep apart.
According to Colleen Carney of Ryerson's Sleep and Depression Laboratory in Toronto, 30-40 percent of couples worldwide are starting to sleep in separate beds. If you've been thinking about asking your partner to give separate beds a try, there's no better time than the present!
