Burglars Steal Little Girls Puppy - And Then They Bring Her Back

A little 4-year-old was completely heartbroken when she came home one day to find that her beloved puppy had been stolen. The family went onto social media to beg for the dog to be returned. They were shocked to see what happened just four days later.

Elena Sardi and her daughter Maia Hood came home from the doctors one morning. When they walked into their home, they realized that they had been the victims of a burglary. Their Croydon Hills home had been broken into while they were gone. The thieves stole jewelry, an iPad, and a laptop. But they were shocked and distraught when they realized that Sasha, their puppy, was also missing.

Sasha was just 8-weeks-old when she came to the family. Although she had only been with them for a week, the Labrador puppy was already inseparable from Maia, according to Elena. Maia spent hours playing with her new puppy and had even been falling asleep in the puppy’s little dog bed every night.

After finding the dog missing, Elena talked to ABC News. She said that while she didn’t care about the material possessions she just wanted to get her dog back. She went on to say how heartbroken the whole family was over the robbery and missing dog.

Ryan Hood, Maia’s dad, told The Australian that his daughter had nightmares on the very first night after the robbery. He stated that trying to explain what had happened to a 4-year-old was extremely tough.

The story made headlines throughout Australia. Victoria Police put out a statement on social media that the puppy was microchipped. Who knows if it was the publicity that made the thieves return the dog or just good old-fashioned guilt, but the young puppy reappeared in the family’s backyard three days after the robbery occurred.

Ryan told The Australian that they were trying not to get their hopes up about the return of their dog. That morning, his wife had gotten up to make coffee and noticed that there was movement outside by the kennel. Upon further inspection, it was their stolen puppy. That's when they took to Twitter to let the world know that the puppy had been returned and is safe and sound.
