Bridezilla Uninvites Her Maid Of Honor's Husband From Her Wedding Because He's Too Short

Jun 01, 2021 by apost team

Weddings are never easy, but they are especially difficult when the bride becomes extremely uncompromising. The term “Bridezilla” was created to refer to brides whose attitudes are extreme and intolerably demanding. There has even been a reality show made called “Bridezillas” that is all about obsessive brides behaving badly.

The internet is filled with stories of bridezillas who have demanded ridiculous things from their friends and family members, and it is fodder for the internet to debate over. While some stories do lead to a debate about certain issues, such as how many presents are enough for a bride, other stories bring all internet users together for a unanimous judgment.

This was the case for one woman who brought her dilemma forward to Reddit users. In the subreddit "AITA," the unnamed woman told users that she was the maid of honor at her friend's wedding. Before the wedding, her friend reached out to her and told her that while she would continue to be part of the wedding, she asked that her husband not attend.

Naturally, this was a shock for the maid of honor, who could not understand why her husband was uninvited all of a sudden. When prodding further, she was told that her husband was shorter than her, and this would ruin the photos from her wedding day.

A person's height is not something anyone can control as this is commanded by genes, and more importantly, a wedding day is something that celebrates love no matter what. This bridezilla showed that love means nothing when it comes to her ridiculous demands for her wedding.

On her post on the subreddit "AITA," the unnamed woman wrote, "My (30f) friend (31f) is getting married in August. She invited me and my husband to the wedding already in October when she got engaged. I was asked to be her maid of honor. She didn't have the date imidiately [sic] as she wasn't sure how it will be with COVID and now she has the date and she told me she thinks it would be better if my husband didn't come."

This is certainly an unusual demand. The woman continued, "I asked her why and she didn't want to tell me at first but then she said it is because he is shorten then [sic] me and it would look weird on pictures. He has around 165 cm (5 feet 4.961 inches) while I have 166cm (5 feet 5.354 inches). I think the difference is not that big and I offered I woudn't wear heels but she said I must wear them cause I am the maid od [sic] honor and bridesmaid will wear heels as well."

The woman did not want to attend the wedding without her husband, of course. "I said that if my husband is not invited because of his hight [sic] I am not coming to her wedding. She said that the day is about her and not about me and my husband and I should respect her wishes about her day. She said that she counts with me as with the maid of honor and I can't do this to her. I told her she is being shallow and that it is either me and my husband or none of us."

When she asked her husband if she was in the wrong with her response, her husband fully supported her but when she asked a friend the same thing, she was told that she was being dramatic and that she shouldn't make a big deal out of what was supposed to be her friend's day. This is what led to her turning to the internet for some answers, and most Reddit users agreed with the woman's husband.

As one user correctly pointed out, "What on earth did she think your response would be? I think 'Both of us or neither of us' is entirely fair. For someone who is about to get married, she seems to have an odd idea of what marriage entails. You cant have it both ways. It sounds like she is essentially saying 'My marriage is important, yours is not.'"

The woman also gave users an update after speaking to her friend and putting her foot down. She wrote, "So she finally wrote me, she very rudely told me that if this is my attitude I can /the F word/ off. I was polite in my message and she can't do even that. So we are not going and I don't really want to talk to her after this all. I tried my best to be solve [sic] it and to give her a chance. It's sad but I guess she really was a toxic friend as many of you said in the comments."

It looks like the woman dodged a bullet here, and even though she lost a friend, she might just be better off.
