Brides Across The World Form Friendship After One Let The Other Borrow Her Wedding Gown

Jan 18, 2023 by apost team

There are some things in life that are too precious to let go of, especially those with sentimental value. These could be items worn during a special moment in the life of that person, like a wedding dress that allows them to reminisce about the happy memories of their lives at that point in time. But what if someone eyed precious memorabilia of yours and offered to pay for it?

Well, it would definitely be a lot easier to let go of if you knew it would fall into the hands of a person close to you, like a family member or a friend.  But what if that person was a stranger? Moreso, a stranger who is from the other side of the world? Well, in this story from January 2023, a woman didn't want to take the chance of lending one of the most precious things in her life to a complete stranger. But thankfully, she changed her mind – and it made an impact in her life in ways she never knew was possible.

Emily Heath, a woman from Los Angeles, California, shared a TikTok video where she narrated her experience with a woman named Simone Crouch, who randomly sent her a message on Instagram asking her if she was willing to sell her wedding dress.

Crouch always wanted to have the perfect wedding dress for one of the most special days of her life. Five years ago, she found the perfect wedding dress. But when the time finally came for her to get married came, it became a challenge to find it.

"I tried on about 10 wedding dresses," Crouch told “Good Morning America.” "They put me in the wrong sizes and it wasn't the right fit and it wasn't the right cut and none of them made me feel good."

One day, she finally laid her eyes on her dream wedding dress while scrolling through Instagram. "I tried to get the dress and it didn't work," she revealed.

Then, she found out that Heath wore the same dress during her wedding three years prior. So, she sent her a message in hopes of getting her hands on the wedding dress.

Heath, in her TikTok video, said it was a “hard no” for her. But when she found out that Crouch lived in South Africa, she decided to finally lend the dress to the latter.

“So I started thinking how I cried the first time I put it on and how this dress that was so important to me has just been languishing in the closet for the past three years. So, I said ‘You know what, if you can send it back to me after you’re done, sure, go ahead, you can borrow it!’” Heath said.

But it took thousands of miles before that item got to its destination. From Los Angeles, it was sent to Crouch’s mom in Surrey in the United Kingdom before it reached Johannesburg in South Africa.

“There were some real sisterhood of the traveling pants magic because she put the dress on and it fit her absolutely perfectly,” Heath said.

But it was the start of a real friendship as Crouch invited her to her wedding. So, they packed up, and the next thing they knew, they were already having the most incredible trip in Cape Town.

Apart from the fun activities they did together, they were also warmly welcomed by Crouch’s family, from the bridal shower to the family dinners to the bachelor’s party.

Because of the wedding dress, Heath not only found a new friend, but she also found a new sister!
