Bride Designs Smart Mechanism To Hide Her Vintage Wedding Dress From Groom Before Walking Down The Aisle

There has been a long tradition in different cultures around the world that prohibits grooms from seeing their brides wearing their wedding dresses until she walks down the aisle.

According to Wedgewood Weddings, there have been cultures that believe that it would be bad luck for the couple to see each other on the day of the occasion unless they’re already in the ceremony itself.

The reason behind this belief, as reported by Today’s Bride, comes from arranged marriages. Parents of women who are bound to tie the knot were afraid that if the man saw their child prior to the nuptials, there would be a possibility that he would back out.

This tradition had been long forgotten by some due to today’s standards, and the only one who follows this are those who are superstitious.

There were others who still opt not to see each other to build up excitement and anticipation, but a bride named Rachel Kwon stuck with the tradition in the United States that she knew.

The bride looked dazzling on the special occasion, as shared on her YouTube channel in October of 2022; she wore a white halterneck dress that appeared to be made out of silk, a pair of long white gloves, and a voluminous veil.

She kept the rest of her look simple with a clean bun hairstyle and minimalist makeup.

Many were confused when she was being transported to the wedding venue as she appeared to be covered with fabric and a piece of an umbrella on top of her, and her main reason was she didn’t want her soon-to-be-husband at the time and guests to see what she looked like before saying I do in the altar.

Based on the clip she shared with her hundreds of thousands of subscribers in October 2022, Kwon made the “contraption herself.”

“I made this contraption so my husband and guests wouldn’t see me before I walked down the aisle,” she wrote in the text of the video.

In the comment section, the beautiful bride, who got married to her Korean partner, shared more details about her invention.

She clarified that she didn’t do it “for dramatic effect,” but rather because she wanted to have a “reveal” for her “man” as she had to pass through several guests before the ceremony.

Kwon also noted the difference between the United States and South Korea when it comes to wedding traditions, as she wrote, “In Korea, the groom and all guests take photos with the bride before the wedding. Complete opposite of US tradition where it’s ‘bad luck.’”

During the ceremony, many were surprised to see Kwon wearing a simple dress which she explained in a TikTok comment that she got the dress from a vintage shop for $200 in her hometown of New Orleans before bringing it to South Korea.

Unfortunately, she revealed that there were some people who got disappointed with her look as most Korean brides often wear dramatic wedding dresses, but in her defense, she loved the “classic look.”

It appears that the reveal was worth the wait, as they looked happy in the videos she shared with her followers on social media.

During the ceremony, Kwon was not the only one who surprised her husband with her look as her partner prepared a special dance performance with his group of friends.
