Springing into Action
As the SUV's driver kept on driving, Gavin realized he needed to do more than a shout. He began to ran until he caught up with the dangerous vehicle.
When he caught up with the SUV, he finally saw the woman who was driving it. He quickly pulled open the driver's side door. Then, he pulled the driver out. As Gavin rescued the woman, he noticed something he hadn't missed earlier; there were passengers in the vehicle's back. They were the woman's three young children.
A Hero is Made
According to CNN, Gavin managed to rescue the woman's children. They were aged one, four, and nine. Although the youngest was in a car seat, he managed to save everyone in the vehicle. After this dramatic rescue, Gavin watched the fire spread to the entire SUV.
Soon, the fire department arrived. Fortunately, they were able to put the fire out before the vehicle exploded. The fire department may have put out the fire, but the young family wouldn't have been rescued without Gavin's brave actions.
His quick thinking and good sense under pressure ensured every life was saved. As a result, the fire department awarded him a challenge coin and held a special ceremony in his honor.
