There are few movie stars as universally recognized as Brad Pitt. The actor is best known for his leading roles in some of Hollywood's most iconic films. Even though the actor turned 59 in December 2022, Pitt continues to be a huge box-office draw. As he pushes 60, it's clear that Pitt has come a long way since he entered show business in the late 1980s.
Pitt's breakout role came in 1991 when he starred in the film "Thelma & Louise" as a charming drifter. This led to more leading roles in films such as "A River Runs Through It," "Legends of the Fall," and "Interview with the Vampire." In the late 1990s, Pitt became a household name, thanks to his leading roles in hit films such as "Seven," "Fight Club" and "Ocean's Eleven."
Pitt has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a Golden Globe Award for his role in "12 Monkeys" and an Academy Award for his role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." He has also been nominated for three other Academy Awards for his performances in "Moneyball," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," and "12 Years a Slave."
Despite his success, Pitt has faced personal challenges, including a highly publicized divorce from actress Angelina Jolie, which resulted in his family home in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, having more rooms than he needed.
Unbeknownst to many, the Los Feliz Mansion that he bought from "Elvira" actress Cassandra Peterson for only $1.7 million in 1994 had another resident other than the heartthrob. Read on to learn more about his lavish mansion and who his unexpected roommate was!
In January 2023, a source told People Magazine that Pitt had listed his mansion, sprawling under two acres, on the market. Apparently, the "Babylon" actor is looking for a smaller place to live in, exchanging the mansion for something more quaint.
Based on records, Pitt copped the craftsman-style mansion in 1994 from Peterson. At the time, the property only cost $1.7 million, a meager amount for such as lavish estate.
According to Architectural Digest, the mansion was erected in 1915 and houses six bedrooms and seven bathrooms across a living space of 6,692 square feet. To make use of it more, Pitt expanded it by purchasing two more adjacent properties.
By 2023, the estate spanned 1.9 acres and had a tennis court, a skate park, and a world-class swimming pool. Based on photos, the house has two red brick chimneys, plenty of patios, and a woodsy dark brown siding.
Since it was listed in January 2023, Entertainment Tonight exclusively reported that the home has now been sold for $39 million, staying true to the original reports back then.
"Brad Pitt has sold his Los Feliz home for around the asking price of $40 million. The deal was done off-market," the outlet's source said.
Pitt has since relocated to a newly-acquired property he bought in Carmel, California, a clifftop mansion that was his choice for "something smaller" compared to the Los Feliz mansion.
While it would surely be a cozy new home to the decorated actor, his Los Feliz Mansion would still go down on Pitt's memory as a memorable one because of a rather unexpected housemate he had back then.

In an interview with People Magazine, Peterson, the actress who sold the mansion to Pitt, dished out particularly hilarious but shocking information about the other person who lives in the mansion.
"I think there were like 22 houses that were contiguous to the edge of the property. And every time they came up he bought one," Peterson told the magazine.
Among the properties that Pitt bought, one belonged to an elderly man in his nineties, whose wife passed away, making him the only one left.
Per Peterson, Pitt struck a deal with the man and allowed him to stay at his new home "without paying anything until he died." However, what was funny is that the elderly man lived up to a hundred and five years old, as the living arrangement dragged out longer than Pitt had expected, as Peterson suggested.
"I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there till he dies, which might be any minute now," Peterson joked, after saying that the man named John "kept living forever."
Like Jolie, after the divorce, Peterson also purchased a nearby property in the area which made her a neighbor of Pitt for quite some time too.
Recalling an encounter in the late 90s, Peterson told the magazine that he once stumbled upon Pitt rehearsing for his "Fight Club" movie in the garage, looking dashing as ever.
"I go past Brad's garage and he's in there wearing only sweatpants. He's got on boxing gloves and he is punching a bag. I swear I almost fainted," she joyfully recalled.
