Boys Aged 12 And 13 Face 10 Years In Prison After Killing Half-A-Million Bees

There are so many campaigns fighting to save the bees, which are absolutely vital to our ecosystem. Though many people are afraid of these tiny fuzzy insects because of their threatening stingers, they serve an important purpose in our world. 

This is why the tragic vandalism of a large bee colony in Sioux Falls, Iowa is extremely upsetting. Not only is the family's business going to suffer as a result, but more than 500,000 bees fell victim to savage vandals...two children aged 12 and 13.

The owners of Wild Hill Honey discovered that 50 of their beehives were destroyed when they went to clear the snow off of them. Over 500,000 bees lay dead in the snow, and their shed had been broken and completely trashed. The owner, Justin Engelhardt, also had a security camera installed, but it had been stolen by the vandals.

Police used fingerprints to track down the criminals, and were shocked when they discovered the damage had been done by two young boys, who are now facing a punishment of 10 years in prison and $60,000 worth of damages. 

“They knocked over every single hive, killing all the bees. They wiped us out completely,” Mr. Englehardt told the Sioux City Journal.
 

Besides the security camera, nothing else was stolen from the property. It was just a pure act of terror committed against this family and their beehives, which has left Mr. Englehardt extremely heartbroken. 

Wild Hill Honey updated their Facebook page to share news about the vandalism, and online supporters were quick to help any way they could. A fundraiser was set up to help raise money for the struggling business, which will hopefully help them get back on their feet.
