Boyfriend Cheats On & Breaks Up With Girlfriend After She Saves His Life By Donating Kidney

Typically whenever someone gets into a relationship, they hope that it’ll work out and that they’ll stay together for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case, and many couples end up calling it quits after some time. Some people may relate the breakup to feeling like they’re missing a piece of themselves. However, for one 30-year-old woman, that was actually the case.

Colleen Le is a TikTok user who went viral in summertime in 2020 and 2021 for sharing the story behind one of her previous relationships from several years ago. She explained that the relationship lasted for about seven months, but unfortunately it didn’t last. There had been some challenges along the way, and her boyfriend even had some pretty serious medical issues to the point that he needed a new kidney. 

Since she really cared about her then-partner and was willing to do anything to help him, Le offered to donate one of her kidneys to him. Once they found out that they were a match, they went forward with the life-saving operation. Fortunately, everything went well in the medical department but sadly didn’t go as smoothly for the pair’s relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend.

It turns out that Le’s boyfriend ended up cheating on her. Wanting to give him another chance, Le forgave him. Unfortunately, the bad news kept coming, and just a few months later, she was dumped. Nowadays, Le is able to look back on the past and feel good about the choices she made, even if they didn’t always work out the way she had planned.

In her now viral TikTok from August 2020, Le talked about a past relationship that went wrong. In the text overlay in the video, she wrote, “You think you can hurt my feelings? Lol I donated my kidney to my boyfriend at the time and got cheated on seven months later.” In another TikTok from June 2021, Le went into more detail about the situation.

According to 7 News, Le’s then-boyfriend was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease that left him needing dialysis. His kidney functioned at less than 5%. Once Le found out that they were a match, she offered to donate one of her kidneys, and went through with the surgery. However, their relationship took a turn for the worse several months later.

Le’s then-boyfriend had confessed to cheating on her while she was studying for finals, according to 7 News. Just three months later, Le was dumped over the phone. “He blocked me on every social media and stopped answering my calls and texts for months,” she said.

Many people flooded Le’s comments sections on TikTok to show their support for her and her past decisions. One person wrote, “I wonder if he understands the seriousness of donating a kidney. You literally sacrificed your life for someone. You are a beautiful soul.” Another user commented, “You are such a kind and brave woman willing to donate like that. You deserved better. Sorry for what happened to you.”

Thankfully, Le is now in a happy relationship and is able to look back on the situation in a good light. “I’m forever grateful that I was able to give someone a second chance at life despite the circumstance and it’s fun to joke about it now,” she said.
