Bobby Sherman, the beloved singer and actor who rose to fame as a teen idol in the 1960s and 1970s, is facing a challenging battle. On Mar. 25, 2025, his wife, Brigitte Poublon, shared heartbreaking news with fans on Facebook, revealing that Sherman has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Poublon, who has supported her husband through many of his life’s chapters, requested privacy and understanding as they navigate this difficult time.

Born in California, Sherman’s career took off in the 1960s, thanks to the mentorship of “Rebel Without a Cause” actor Sal Mineo, who helped him secure a recording contract. This led to Sherman’s appearance on the hit musical variety show “Shindig!” in 1964, a stepping stone in his rise to stardom.

In 1968, he landed the role of Jeremy, the shy younger brother, in the Western TV series “Here Comes the Brides.” Alongside his acting career, Sherman also found success in music, with his hit single “Little Woman” reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song sold over a million copies and stayed in the Top 20 for nine weeks. Other notable songs included “Julie, Do Ya Love Me” and “Easy Come, Easy Go.”

After a guest appearance on “Emergency!” in 1974, Sherman decided to shift gears. He trained as a paramedic and dedicated over a decade to working as a medical training officer at the Los Angeles Police Academy.

The former teen heartthrob and pop star found a second calling in the 1990s when he became a Reserve Police Officer with the LAPD. Sherman’s dedication to public service earned him the prestigious Reserve Officer of the Year award in 1999. It’s worth noting that his last solo performance took place on Aug. 25, 2001, in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

Sherman continued to serve with the sheriff’s department until his retirement in 2010, marking the end of a chapter in a career that spanned both the entertainment industry and law enforcement. Fast forward to March 2025, when Sherman’s wife, Poublon, shared a heartfelt message with fans on social media.

She posted throwback photos of Sherman, reflecting on the admiration his fans still hold for him.

“To all of Bobby Sherman’s cherished fans,” Poublon wrote, continuing, “As many of you know, Bobby has been retired for some time and is no longer able to participate in cameos, sign autographs, or make appearances.”

In the same post, Poublon shared the heartbreaking news of Sherman’s health:

“It is with a heavy heart that we share Bobby has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.”

She asked for privacy during this time:

“During this challenging time, we kindly ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy. Thank you so much for still remembering him. We really appreciate it.”

As Sherman faces this difficult chapter in his life, his legacy continues to resonate with fans who remember him not only for his entertainment career but also for his service as a dedicated public servant. We send our support to Sherman and his family during this challenging time.
