Blake Shelton Celebrates Anniversary With Gwen Stefani After Focusing On Being A Stepdad Over Job & Wealth

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are one of Hollywood's most adorable couples. From the beginning of their romance in 2015 when they were both coaches on "The Voice," to their frequent social media posts about each other where they often declare their love for one another, the couple has shared an incredibly sweet high-profile romance for over seven years.

After dating for over five years, during which both would frequently gush about the other during interviews and on social media, it became a hot topic about whether they'd ever get married, with the couple frequently having to field questions about any rumored engagements. Then in October 2021, Shelton proposed to Stefani inside a chapel that he'd built himself on his Oklahoma ranch. The news spread that the couple was finally engaged, with Shelton writing on his Instagram post that Stefani saved his 2020.

In July 2021, the couple had their gorgeous wedding at Shelton's Oklahoma ranch, which was officiated by none other than Carson Daly, the host of "The Voice." Since then, the couple has been living in wedded bliss, and they've even occasionally performed together while introducing the other as their husband or wife.

Shelton revealed that instead of focusing on his country music career, he is focusing on his family. Stefani has three children: 17-year-old Kingston Rossdale, 14-year-old Zuma Rossdale and 9-year-old Apollo Rossdale.

Shelton said that he loves his career, but he has entered a new phase of his life that looks different than any other phase in his life. Now, he is a doting stepfather to Stefani’s three sons. The pair celebrated their second wedding anniversary and appear to be as much in love as ever.

Stefani's first relationship in the public eye was with Gavin Rossdale, the lead singer and guitarist of the band Bush

The pair met when No Doubt opened for Bush at a holiday concert in 1995. The couple married in September 2002, but they were not meant to last, and their divorce was finalized in 2016. They welcomed three sons together: Kingston, Zuma and Apollo.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2022, the award-winning country star shed light on his new life with his wife and music star, Stefani. Shelton shared that he loves his music career, but some things are more important than work.

"Look, I love music and I love ‘The Voice.’ I love all the cool things I get to do with my job, but those things all take a backseat now to Gwen and the kids and it’s just a new phase of my life," Shelton said.

Shelton admitted he never saw his life taking the remarkable turn that it has. If he had to guess where his life would end up, he didn’t foresee Stefani in his big picture before meeting her. "I would have probably said, 'Are you talking about that girl that holds up the orange in her video?' I never understood until now that she's from Orange County," he admitted.

Despite each of their experiences with heartbreak, the couple found love in one another and are now happier than ever. Speaking with Billboard shortly after they started dating, Shelton shared exactly how he felt about Stefani:

"Next thing I know, I wake up and she's all I care about, and I'm wondering if she feels the same about me. Gwen saved my life."

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2016, Stefani shared, "It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and, like, 'Wow, God, you just don't know what's gonna happen next," Stefani said.

Now, Shelton is more than happy to be a stepfather to Stefani’s three children. During an interview from November 2022, he explained that he “married into a family.” However, Shelton hinted that Stefani was once concerned about if he would want to be a stepfather.

Fortunately for the couple, Shelton grew up with a great example, as his father had married his mother when she already had another baby. Shelton explained:

"The example that my dad set for me was that (child) was not even a consideration (in a romantic partnership). You got three boys? Awesome! My dad did it. My dad raised me. I could do this. I didn't know what I was signing up for, but I was all about signing up for it. And every day I've fallen in love with the boys as much as I do with Gwen."

Shelton has found joy in taking the kids, who were raised in Los Angeles, to his ranch in Oklahoma. He shared:

"The two of them were like, 'Well, what do we do now?' I go, 'Go out that door and don't come back till you're too tired to go any further.' Well, they can't even imagine just going down to the creek with a net or turning over rocks or getting on a buggy and driving around."

We’re so happy to see this blended family enjoying spending so much time together!

Shelton and Stefani celebrated their second year of wedded bliss on July 4, 2023, and both took to Instagram to share special messages with each other. Shelton posted a throwback photo of them sharing a sweet kiss during the wedding with the caption:

“Happy anniversary @gwenstefani!!!! Every day has been the best day since I met you.”

Stefani went the extra mile and posted a montage of photos and clips from their lives together, including those taken during the wedding, entering the Grand Ole Opry and backstage at events. There was even a short clip of Shelton walking down a hall in a pink rabbit costume! It’s clear the singer adores her country music husband and wrote in the caption:

“happy anniversary @blakeshelton i love u 🥰!!!”

Stefani later posted photos of them ringing in the 4th of July by the seaside and on a boat, looking every bit the happily married couple.

In an interview with People, Shelton touched on how he was focused on seizing every opportunity with his beloved family, including his stepchildren, whom he called “our kids.”

“You don't know what your regrets are going to be until you look back one day. I feel like my regrets would be, if I stayed on this path, that I am missing out on some more important things in life — and for now, that's our kids," he said.

He also explained that even though he was just a stepfather, he took “that job very seriously.” He continued:

“The kids see me as a very important person in their life. (When they ask) ‘Why isn’t Blake here?’ I take that stuff to heart. I’ve made plenty of money, but you can’t buy time back. I don’t want any regrets.”
