Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were one of the most notorious Hollywood couples of all time. As individuals, they have each had an incredible career within the entertainment industry, specifically as actors. Together, they built a beautiful family during the happy times of their long marriage. Although they have gone their separate ways, the pair have continued to co-parent and raise their children to be great model citizens.

Affleck is most known for being an actor, producer, screenwriter, director, and philanthropist, while Garner is known as an actress and producer. The two have been prominent figures in the film industry and have both used their platforms to help the betterment of others through charities and organizations.

Affleck and Garner have had their share of ups and downs throughout their long-winded relationship, but they have come together to make their children a priority. Their well-known relationship has made them a popular subject in the spotlight and a prominent target for the media. Much to Affleck and Garner's disapproval, their children have been key figures in the public eye as paparazzi have been relentless with capturing photos of the family.

Although the parents have worked to lessen the photographers' role in their children's lives, they have still shared parts of their personal and professional moments with the public. Their children have grown right before the world's eyes, with their oldest, Violet Affleck, now a budding teenager. While she has continued to grow, Violet has begun showcasing features resembling both of her parents and has become an absolutely adorable teenage girl.

Affleck’s Rise To Fame

Affleck was born Aug. 15, 1972, in Berkeley, California, before moving to Massachusetts. Growing up in New England, he was surrounded by people who worked in the arts and regularly attended theater performances with his brother, Casey Affleck, and their mother. The brothers auditioned for roles in local commercials and film productions since their mom was friends with a casting director in the Cambridge area in Massachusetts.

Affleck landed his first official role when he was seven years old and went on to work in more theater productions as he grew older. While attending Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, he became close friends with fellow student and future actor Matt Damon. The two had known each other since they were kids, and both wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Their dreams became reality, and the two eventually made their way into the acting industry. Their big break came from "Good Will Hunting" in 1997, a movie the pair co-wrote and co-starred in together. Damon had previously written part of the script for a playwriting class at Harvard University and reworked it with Affleck when the two lived together in Los Angeles, California, a few years later.

Along with the pair of friends, the movie also starred Minnie Driver and Robin Williams and went on to be a commercial success. It earned both Affleck and Damon the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1997. Affleck remains the youngest writer to ever win an Oscar for screenwriting to date, as he won the award when he was 25 years old.

Some of Affleck's most notable roles include "Dazed and Confused" in 1993 and "Armageddon" in 1998. He made his directorial debut in 2007 with the film "Gone Baby Gone," which he also had a hand in writing. Affleck showed off all of his talents with the crime drama "The Town" in 2010, a movie he co-wrote, directed, and starred in. He continued picking up roles in various film genres, as well as making himself known as a critically acclaimed writer and director. Affleck shocked audiences with his leading role as Batman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in 2016, where he starred opposite Henry Cavill.

Along with a great career and plenty of opportunities to highlight his many talents, Affleck has taken yet another step toward furthering himself in the entertainment industry. He is one of the co-owners of Pearl Street Films, a production company he created with his longtime friend Damon.

In 2013, Affleck opened up about how he wanted to do more for the world in a video for the Eastern Congo Initiative, an advocacy-based non-profit organization that he is a co-founder of. He described the organization's purpose and said, "Let's do something to work with people, help them try to make things better in their lives." The Eastern Congo Initiative works to "support the Congolese people as they build health, freedom and prosperity for life," according to the organization's official website.

Garner was born on Apr. 17, 1972, in Houston, Texas, and was raised in Charleston, West Virginia. She moved around for her education and studied theatre at Denison University in Ohio and worked as an understudy for the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City. Her hard work paid off, and she made her screen debut in "Zoya" in 1995.

The actress's career took off as she landed more guest appearances and supporting roles in television shows before finally making her way to the big screen. While Garner has exhibited her talents in many genres, she is most known for her romantic comedies and drama-comedies. Some of her most notable film roles include "13 Going on 30" in 2004, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" in 2009, and "Valentine's Day" in 2010.

Garner has received plenty of great feedback from fans, peers, and critics over the years and has been awarded for all of her hard work throughout her career. She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama in 2001, as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award for the same subject in 2004.

With an outstanding and long-lasting career, the star has used her platform for the better and is an activist for early childhood education. She is a board member of Save the Children USA, an organization dedicated to helping save children's lives across the globe and putting an end to child suffering. Garner is also the co-founder and chief brand officer of Once Upon a Farm, an organic baby food company. The company's mission is "to nurture our children, each other and the earth in order to pass along a healthier and happier world for the next generation."

Although Affleck's relationship with Garner is his longest to date, he has had his share of romance over the years. He began dating actress Gwyneth Paltrow in October 1997, later working together on "Shakespeare in Love" in 1998. They had an on-again, off-again relationship for a couple of years, breaking up for good in October 2000.

Love And Heartbreak

Affleck's whirlwind romances continued, and he dated Jennifer Lopez from 2002 until 2004. The pair met on the set of "Gigli," and began dating shortly afterward. They quickly became one of the most talked-about couples in the media, as their relationship received widespread coverage. Affleck and Lopez got engaged in November 2002 but ended their relationship in January 2004.

Just a few months after his break-up with Lopez, Affleck began dating Garner. They two already knew each other and were even friends from their times working together on the sets of "Pearl Harbor" in 2001 and "Daredevil" in 2003. The relationship took off, and the couple married on Jun. 29, 2005, in a private ceremony. Their beautiful family started blossoming shortly after, with their first daughter, Violet, born in December 2005. Their second daughter, Seraphina, was born in January 2009, and their last child and only son, Samuel, was born in February 2012.

Despite a gorgeous family together and their own successful careers, the two actors could not keep their marriage together. Affleck and Garner separated in June 2015, although Affleck continued to live in a guesthouse at the family home until 2017. The couple took the next step and jointly filed for divorce in April 2017, with it being finalized in October 2018. The couple has joined physical and legal custody of all three of their children together.

Garner had been married once before to actor Scott Foley. They had a wedding ceremony at their home in October 2000 but separated in March 2003 before filing for divorce. Their relationship officially ended the following year, in March 2004. During her separation from Foley, Garner began dating another actor, Michael Vartan, but the two also called off their relationship in 2004.

Raising Kids In The Spotlight

Garner made an appearance on PBS's "Tell Me More With Kelly Corrigan" in October 2020, where she talked about how upset she was with the way the paparazzi dealt with taking pictures of her underage children. "For 10 years, there were at the very least six cars and often 20 outside of our house, and outside of school and at the pediatrician," Garner said

The worried mother revealed just how dangerous some situations have been regarding the media and her children. "And you're begging them, 'Please step aside from the pediatrician's door. I have a sick kid. Please,'" she explained. It got so intense to the point where the paparazzi was "causing car accidents all the time." In fact, Garner talked about a pretty close call she had with someone while driving. "I'd go through a yellow light and there would be 15 cars that would go through the red light without compunction," she said.

Affleck shared the same sentiments. In an interview with Playboy in 2014, he talked about how he and his then-wife had met with California lawmakers to get legislation passed that would prevent paparazzi from getting too close a proximity to children and also prevent the stalking behavior of photographers. "You couldn't chill the internet coverage of celebrities if you tried," he added.

"You can say what you want about me. You can yell at me with a video camera and be TMZ. You can follow me around and take pictures all you want. I don't care," Affleck said. "But it's wrong and disgusting to follow children around and take their picture and sell it for money."

Co-Parenting And Paparazzi Complications

"It makes the kids less safe," the actor continued. "They used to take pictures of our children coming out of preschool, and so this stalker who had threatened to kill me, my wife, and our kids showed up at the school and got arrested. I mean, there are real practical dangers to this."

In 2010, a man by the name of Steven Burky was sent to a mental institution after being accused of stalking Garner and Affleck, BBC reported. He was arrested after he showed up outside a preschool that one of their daughters attended. He was charged with stalking and violating a restraining order but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

In 2015, Garner told Southern Living that she and Affleck both strived to be the best parents to their children, despite their fame. "It's really important for my kids to see that everyone doesn't have the lives they see in Los Angeles," she said. "That doesn't reflect the world. I want them to grow up with the Southern values I had, to look at people when they say hello and to stop and smell the roses. If I could do half as good a job as my mom did, I'd be pretty happy."

Even though they have split, the stars still make an effort to spend time together with their three kids. They were spotted taking Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel to church in November 2019 and, prior to that, celebrated Thanksgiving as a family, according to In Touch.

Violet Is All Grown Up

Born Dec. 1, 2005, in Los Angeles, California, Violet is 15 years old and already as tall as her mom. The teen bears a striking resemblance to her mom and now is catching with her in height as well. According to celebheights.com, Garner is 5'8 while Affleck is 6'3, so it should not come as a surprise that Violet will one day tower over her mother.

According to Daily Mail, Violet and her mother were spotted going into a nail salon for a pamper session in March 2020 at the Los Angeles' Brentwood neighborhood. They were dressed almost identical, too, in gray tops, jeans, glasses, slippers, and with their hair tied back. Violet had a jacket on while Garner sported a buttoned cardigan.

Violet has been reported to be "a real mommy's girl," who shares similar personality traits with her famous mom. For example, both enjoy cooking. According to In Touch, Garner is often spotted taking her children to school or to soccer practice. As the eldest child, Violet is allegedly very protective of her younger siblings. "Violet's extremely protective of Seraphina and Samuel and really watches out for her siblings," a source revealed. "She's extremely mature for her age."

Despite growing up in the public eye with such famous parents, Violet has remained level-headed and appears to be like any other teenage girl. She has not yet entered the entertainment industry, although she still has plenty of time to do so, with a bright future full of opportunities ahead of her.
