A mailman holds a special place in many communities. One particularly community honored their retiring mailman in the sweetest way.

Floyd Martin had been delivering mail in Marietta, Georgia for over 35 years when he decided it was time to hang it up. After graduating high school in 1975, Martin began working for a bank.

However, it did not take long for the USPS to come calling, offering him more pay. He has not looked back since. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on his story.

Martin did not just deliver the mail. He made the time and effort to connect with all of the customers on his route. He would bring lollipops for the kids and treats for the animals, endearing himself to many others. There were 500 houses on his route and Martin touched the lives of many.

When Martin announced his retirement, the community took it upon themselves to celebrate the milestone. A big block party was thrown in his honor. Residents decorated their mailboxes and showered Martin with gifts as they came out of their homes to wish him well in his retirement.

But it did not stop there. Amanda Dian Seals decided that she wanted to make Martin's wish of going to Hawaii come true. So she started a GoFundMe page to raise funds for a trip. The campaign had a goal of $5,000.

However, the campaign ended up raising more than $30,000. Delta Airlines even heard about the campaign and pitched in to make Martin's Hawaii dreams come true.
