Bear Made People Smile After Taking 400 Selfies Using Wildlife Camera

If you're a fan of wildlife shows, you'll be surprised about just how fun it is to watch animals do their own thing in the wild. If you aren't, you'd be surprised about how crazy it is that there are several random, bizarre moments that happen in the wild. That's perhaps the beauty of nature; that humans have a lot more in common with the animal kingdom than one might think. Take, for example, a monkey who almost acts like a human or some of them can feel emotions, too. But have you ever thought of a bear doing a selfie? And we're not talking about one, two, or three selfies but at least 400 selfies. Well, one bear in Colorado did just that – and people can't get over its cuteness.
In January 2023, the Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks shared some photos of a bear taking a selfie in front of a wildlife camera.
According to the government organization, the bear discovered the wildlife cameras – and 68.97% of those photos were those of the bear.
Recently, a bear discovered a wildlife camera that we use to monitor wildlife across #Boulder open space. Of the 580 photos captured, about 400 were bear selfies," the Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks wrote in a tweet.
"Most animals just walk by the camera, but this bear took a special interest in it," they added.
City officials in Boulder, Colorado, set up the wildlife cameras to keep track of the wildlife across its 46,000 acres of land, including deer, beavers, bald eagles and even lynx, according to the Daily Mail.

People couldn't get over the adorable photos of the bear, with many suggesting they create a separate Instagram profile for the bear, while others requested the people managing the open space to share all the photos taken by the bear.
"Share them ALL!" one person wrote.
"Give this bear Instagram profile," another person said.
Meanwhile, others said the bear could pass as a model.
"There's some Blue Steel in the 3rd picture...hire that bear model!" one person said.
"Wow, he's good! He could model professionally," another person remarked.
Philip Yates, a spokesperson for the Boulder OSMP, explained that most bears would just usually pass by – but the one who took the selfie was clearly an exception.
"Sometimes wildlife species notice our cameras, but most just walk on by. In this instance, a bear took a special interest in one of our wildlife cameras and took the opportunity to capture hundreds of selfies," Yates told NBC News, as quoted by TODAY.
Yates said he appreciated all the people who have shown love for the bear, including those who have sent hilarious comments.
"These pictures made us laugh, and we thought others would too. We appreciate all the fun and witty comments we've seen," Yates remarked.
More than the fun moments brought about by the bear's scene-stealing selfies, Yates reiterated that the cameras were installed to ensure that they collect vital information needed to protect the animals in the area.
"These cameras play an important role in identifying important wildlife areas," Yates said. "The information we collect from them is used to recommend habitat-protective measures to help protect sensitive natural areas.
Whether the bear made those selfies on purpose or not, the selfies sure made everyone smile – including us!
