A popular beach club on the vibrant island of Mykonos in Greece, known for its stunning beaches and lively nightlife, has come under fire for denying entry to a woman based on her body size. The incident, which was captured on TikTok video, has sparked outrage and ignited conversations about body positivity and inclusivity.
Bella Tirico, the woman who originally uploaded the now-deleted video in July 2023, detailed how her aunt was denied entry to the Scorpios Beach Club because she was deemed "too fat" by the club's bouncer. The discrimination unfolded when Tirico and her aunt approached the entrance of the club, where her aunt actually booked a table ahead of time.
Gap Greek and Proud, another TikTok user, reposted the video on Aug. 7, 2023, showing the bouncer refusing entry to Tirico's aunt. While their conversation wasn’t completely audible enough, Tirico’s expressed shock and disappointment strongly indicated that something wasn’t right with their reception at the club.
Her aunt was left speechless and hurt by the whole embarrassing incident. Tirico emphasized the importance of kindness, inclusion, and respect for individuals regardless of their appearance.
The reposted video also highlighted the "ugly elitist side of clubbing culture" in Mykonos, as it captured the bouncer allowing a group of slimmer individuals to enter while Tirico’s aunt was brushed aside. The discriminatory treatment fueled further anger and criticism from viewers.
Online users rallied in support of Tirico's aunt, flooding the club's Google reviews with negative comments as they condemned the discriminatory behavior of the staff. As a result, Scorpios' Google rating plummeted from its original standing to a 3.1-star average, according to Wander Wisdom.

Despite what happened, Tirico and her aunt, as well as the rest of their companions on this Greece getaway, still had a great time on the island. After erasing the original video of that mortifying experience, Tirico posted a couple more TikToks about her aunt, including one of her dancing at the beach together with her niece. Her followers could not help but react with love and support for the video.
"I'm sorry for your experience at Scorpio," one commenter wrote. "I hope she still enjoys the rest of her trip."

"I'm disgusted by the whole story about the club. They are behind in the times over there apparently."

In another video, Tirico revealed that it was her aunt who paid for their entire Greek trip. Her aunt donned a white two-piece bikini that highlighted her stunning beauty.
"Something must be wrong with their eyes cause your aunt looks good," a follower said.
Scorpio has not publicly addressed the incident, but the story of Tirico’s aunt has also blown up in a separate TikTok post at Hotel Hoppers, which featured the club. A handful of people posted in support of the “stunning aunt” of TikTok.
