The legendary blues guitarist, B.B. King, passed away in 2015 at the age of 90. One of his last public performances was a live duet with John Mayer.

B.B. King and John Mayer took the stage in 2006 at the Guitar Center's King of the Blues. Mayer spends a few minutes talking and telling complimentary stories about B.B. King while B.B. King rolls his eyes and then says, "You keep it up, I'm gonna get up and walk out of here."

So they cut straight to the music. Mayer started off by singing, and B.B. King then played an incredible solo. Even though he was 80 at the time, his fingers were magical, sliding up and down the guitar neck and plucking the strings, producing incredible blues riffs. He basically invented modern blues, and his innovative method of bending the strings fluidly while applying a shimmering vibrato is the standard technique used by all blues guitarists today.

What comes next has the crowd on their feet, screaming in excitement.

The two musicians take turns playing solos, each trying to outdo the other. B.B. King's screaming blues riffs were utterly amazing.

After giving up on the impromptu competition, they start making music together, Mayer providing the vocals with his mesmerizing voice and B.B. King, the King of the Blues, providing the music. The result was remarkable.

The video of the concert went viral on YouTube, with over 18 million viewers. It got thousands of likes and happy comments from fans awestruck by B.B. King's skill with the guitar.
