Baseball Fan Makes Home Run Catch While Catching His Child And Saving His Beer In Heroic Display Of Dad Reflexes

Baseball is a beloved sport for many reasons — the sport itself is an exciting watch, but it also comes with a sense of pomp and celebration in the stands that is just as exciting as the game. The sounds and sights of the game make for an amazing experience for all fans when they watch the game from the stands, and once in a while, something even more exciting than the game happens, and this was made clear at a baseball game in July 2021.

In an exciting few seconds, a father showed his agile reflexes as he caught an errant home run ball while he was holding his baby as well as his beer in his hand. The video has gone viral ever since it was uploaded onto the internet and the father has become somewhat of a hero for his quick multitasking. The moment has been shared and commented on thousands of times in the last few days.

The footage was originally uploaded onto Facebook by user Matt Heaston, who was also quite surprised by how agile the father was in his action. It has certainly been an exciting time for baseball fans in the last few weeks, especially because this unnamed man is not the only person who has caught an errant ball with a baby in tow.

A woman attended a baseball game with her baby in June 2021 and also made an incredible catch while holding her baby. It may not have the added excitement of saving a cup of beer from spilling as well, it was exciting nonetheless.

LADBible reported that the video was posted by Facebook user Matt Heaston, who wrote in the caption, "This guy... let go OF THE BABY momentarily to catch the ball. Then saved the baby and barely spilled a drop. Bottle didn't even fall. Watch it again. All the faces of the people around them."

The incident came during the June 6, 2021 game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants. The man had to make a split-second decision, and as seen in the video, he decided to have it all and succeed. As the ball came flying in, he let his child go into freefall as he used his left hand to catch it. As soon as the ball was securely in his hand, he caught his daughter soon after while precariously also balancing his beer in his other hand. He lost only a couple of drops of his beer in the process, and in the end was left with a safe toddle, a cup full of beer and a victorious hand that held a home run.

The video has split people's opinions about whether he is an amazing father for having such reflexes, or if he is an irresponsible parent for putting his daughter in a potentially dangerous situation.

Lexy Whitmore was also lauded for her reflexes in June 2021 when she caught a ball while holding a baby at the San Diego Padres versus Chicago Cubs. LADBible reported that she managed to snatch the ball out of the air one-handed. Her move had the announcer shocked as well, but later, Whitmore said that she didn't think the catch was as "amazing" as it was made out to be.
