This past week, one Santa was making his list, getting ready to spread a little Christmas cheer. Our 44th president, Barack Obama, transformed into the Santa Claus we never knew we needed.

As this Santa Claus came to town, Barack surprised all the patients being treated in Washington's Children's National Hospital.

Arriving with his Santa hat, a huge sack of toys, and a whole lot of Christmas cheer, Santa Obama's presence was a huge surprise! He stopped by the hospital to deliver all types of presents for the little ones at the hospital. Bringing jigsaw puzzles, nail polish, and remote-control cars, Obama knew just what these kids wanted for Christmas.

While some kids received gifts on this special Christmas surprise visit, one patient even got some great advice. Afraid of starting high school, one 12-year-old patient shared their fears with the former president. Santa Obama replied by saying that "even the cool kids don't have it all figured out".

The president and chief executive of the Children's National Health System, Kurt Newman, shared just how excited the kids were, "I know they will be talking about it for years to come".

Newman noted that while many people avoid the hospital during the holidays, Obama brought his warmth and cheery spirits to uplift the kids, parents, and staff members that he met at the hospital. As the Children's National Hospital posted images of Obama's visit, they posted captions like, "Who said the Grinch Stole Christmas?!"

As the pictures gained traction on the Internet, most viewers grew emotional witnessing the former president's kindness. Everyone from children to adults were so touched by the president's visit. Even kids that were too young to remember Obama as president was excited to see him visit.

As Obama prepared to leave the hospital, he shared several kind words with the crowd that gathered just to see him.

In his impromptu statement, Obama shared his heartfelt gratitude. He shared about how grateful he felt to have the opportunity to speak with all the wonderful families and their kids, especially at such a tough time.

Obama went on to reference his own children as he thanked the doctors, staff, and nurses that were all caring for the patients at the hospital. This kind gesture reminds us all what this time of year is truly about. Thank you, Mr Obama.
