Author Becomes Overnight Sensation After His Emotional Book Signing Video Captures Hearts

Being kind should be the number one priority of people on a daily basis as you never really know which type of strangers you are giving a helping hand to just by doing even the smallest thing.

This is what exactly happened to a TikTok user who just happened to pass by an author at a grocery store and decided to film their interaction.

In a video shared on the social media platform, a writer named Shawn Warner could be seen sitting down at a table with a couple of copies of his books lying around.

It appeared that not that many people paid attention to him as there were still a lot of copies of his books until a person approached him and asked to share more about the story of what he was selling.

As described on the Amazon page of his book titled “Leigh Howard and the Ghosts of Simmons-Pierce Manor," the book revolves around the story of a woman named Leigh Howard who has been dealing with grief after her parents got murdered.

In order to find the peace that she wanted, she decided to dive into the mystery herself with the help of her orphan family and friends, as well as a ghost with multiple personalities.

Based on his description, Warner had been through a lot in his life as he managed to take on different roles over the decades: he used to be a paratrooper, a therapist, and an engineer. 

However, his ultimate dream was to become a writer, and although it was hard at first, the internet was able to help him become a bestselling author.

In an interview with WFAA released on July 7, 2023, Shawn Warner revealed the book that went viral on social media was his first published work ever and for him, it was frightening because he shared something very personal to the world and at the same time, he felt frustrated because “it’s hard to break in.”

He later shared a few words of wisdom to those who are struggling as he told the interviewer that the key to success is “perseverance and just believing in yourself and somebody else will believe in you.”

Later on, Warner recalled the day when the TikTok user named @internetfamouslol encountered him at the grocery store. He noted that he was signing books, and there was a “lull” in his sales.

“I was sitting there alone… then he came over and he asked if he could make a TikTok video… The next thing I know, the internet, it blew up,” he said.

The author also shared his reaction to the overwhelming response from millions of people on social media as he noted that everything was unexpected because initially, he considered $18 to $20 a day as a good sale, until all of a sudden, he became a bestselling author on Amazon.

“I just accept it as the way things are going right now, this is what God’s doing with me right now, I just go with it,” he said at the time of the interview.

After the video went viral, users continued to share their support on the video and encouraged other people to buy Warner’s book.

“EVERYONE BUY THIS BOOK!!!! Let’s get this guy some sales,” one wrote.

“He’s a number one bestseller now on Amazon. I’m going to get a copy, he deserves all the love,” one commented.
