On the small screen, Bisset has also done some amazing work. In 1999, she played, Isabelle d'Arc, the mother of Joan of Arc in the titular Canadian two-part television miniseries. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. She also appeared in “Britannic” and “The Sleepy Time Gal.” In 2013, she won her first Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in “Dancing on the Edge” as Lady Lavinia Cremone.
At 79, Bisset has aged gracefully as she lasted in the cutthroat entertainment industry. She has strayed away from cosmetic surgery as she embraced aging naturally despite today’s beauty standards set upon women. Read on to learn more about Bisset and her thoughts about aging like fine wine!
Bisset was nominated as Most Promising Newcomer in 1968 for “The Sweet Ride.” Since then, her career has taken off, and she has received bountiful recognition, awards and opportunities. Her name was in a lot of marquees, and she became one of the most versatile actresses of her generation. With her beauty, elegance, and talent, Bisset has attracted a lot of attention and lovers – specifically Hollywood’s hottest men at the time.
She was famously pursued by music icon Frank Sinatra back in the day, and she even declined several dinner dates as she knew it would be misinterpreted. Bisset was even highly rumored to have been romantically involved with Hollywood bad boy, Steve McQueen. However, Bisset is a fanciful lass raised in the United Kingdom, so they did not actually hit it off.
“He was attractive, but a little scary. I was very English and he was a hip American. The way he talked would have driven me mad — I didn’t know what a dude or a soul chick was!” she said in an interview with The Daily Mail in 2021.
Aside from Sinatra and McQueen, Bisset also had romantic interests. Among those were ballet dancer Alexander Godunov, and actors Vincent Perez and Michael Sarrazin.
“I’ve had some very interesting men in my life. They have been a handful. I don’t choose easy men, I’m told.” she went on to say to The Independent in 2014. “Sometimes you get too much information when you spend time with people. You start to see things — bad habits. You start to discover them and then you have to marry bad habits and I’m not sure I can cope with them. I don’t ever have bad relationships. I haven’t broken up angry. I’ve just moved out of situations that have been overwhelming.”

Bisset has earned a lot of attention in the past few years because of her longevity in the entertainment industry. After 47 years, she finally won a Golden Globe Award in 2013 for “Dancing on the Edge” as Best Supporting Actress — her first since being nominated in 1968.
In 2022, Bisset starred in the Russell Brown film “Loren & Rose,” where she played the titular role of Rose. The story seemed to hit quite close to home as Loren was a legendary actor hoping to re-establish her career but her reputation of being a “little zany and a bit unreliable” seemed to be her greatest challenge.
Bisset, who is actually a legendary actress and seasoned artist, was perfect for the role because of her actual career. However, Brown believes that Bisset is very different from her character.
“Viewers often assume that Jacqueline is ‘like she is in the movie.’ But this really isn’t the case — as an actress and a woman, I think she is quite different from Rose, and it’s a testament to her skill that the transformation feels so seamless,” he told Sedona Red Rock News on February 2023.
Speaking of transformation, Bisset has expressed her thoughts on artificial transformation aided by technology. She told The Daily Mail in 2014 that even though she had “lots of complexes” during her youth, she was not tempted to have plastic surgery.
“I don’t think it makes you look younger,” she explained. “It makes you different.”
For Bisset, the ultimate beauty secret is kindness – she said it in her famous 2014 Golden Globe acceptance speech.
