At 77, Goldie Hawn Impresses With Vigorous At-Home Exercise Routine

Despite being in her 70s, Goldie Hawn has proven time and again that age is just a number. One of the contributing factors to her youthful-looking glow is her active lifestyle, as seen in her social media posts. Just recently, she shared a workout video that left everyone speechless — including her daughter Kate Hudson!
Hawn has had a prolific acting career throughout her life, but she has never let that get in the way of her personal life.
While mentions of each other are common among the famous family, they all appear to genuinely love one another's company. Hudson often mentions her own mother, in particular, as a source of inspiration and strength. In an interview, Hudson spoke of their relationship, where she said:
"I'd say my first teacher, who continues to always be my teacher, is my mom. That's the woman that I've learned the most from, and who I look up to, who has conducted her life in a way that I can look up to."
Hudson also speaks fondly of Kurt Russell, whom she considers to be her father. The three, along with siblings and fellow actors Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell, form one of Hollywood's most beloved families.
While the actress has expressed praise for the way her mother paved her own path in the entertainment business, she told E! News in September 2022 that she isn't planning on imitating Hawn's career.
"Contrary to how I guess it seems from the outside in, for me, our family is much more focused on emulating who we are as people," the actress said. "Emulating the good and maybe not necessarily wanting to carry on some of the challenges, like any child growing up in the world,” she added.

Hudson added to the outlet that even if she wanted to copy her mother, there would be no way to do it.
"There's no emulating mama's career. She's an original. She's an icon. It's a different generation," Hudson gushed.
However, Hudson admitted there were other areas of Hawn's life that she was more than happy to try to mirror.
"I do really like to emulate the things she brought to her career and to us as kids, and how she balanced that out," Hudson added to E! News. "I think that's important."
For those who don't know, Hawn has a foundation called The Goldie Hawn Foundation. And for nearly two decades, she has been helping children “develop the mental fitness needed to thrive” with her foundation’s signature program called mindUP — and her daughter is one of her biggest fans.
In October 2022, Hawn shared an Instagram video in which she donned a black bodysuit while effortlessly doing her workout routine for the organization's "Keep Your Mind Up Monday" series.
She encouraged her followers to do physical exercises such as jumping on a trampoline and using large wine bottles as an alternative for dumbbells. She then told her followers to go for walk and said it’s one of the most important things people can do as a form of exercise. Lastly, she asked her followers to take a deep breath, relax and thank themselves for prioritizing their well-being. In the caption, Hawn shared with her followers the importance of exercising regularly.
“Research shows that people who exercise regularly have better mental health and emotional well-being,” she wrote.

“Physical exercise can help boost our mood, concentration, and also help us achieve a positive outlook on life,” she added.
As seen in one of the videos she posted, Hawn stressed that exercising doesn’t mean diving into strenuous activities.
“The great news is that exercise doesn’t have to be strenuous or take a long time to make us feel good. Studies show low or moderate-intensity exercise is enough to make a difference in our mood, behavior, and thinking patterns,” she remarked.
Hawn further stated how exercising can help alleviate stress and help people who are struggling with sleep.
“The levels of chemicals in the brain, such as serotonin, stress hormones, and endorphins, can change after just a few minutes of a light workout! Recent research also indicates that exercise decreases sleep complaints and insomnia, and also improves our coping ability and self-esteem,” she said.
Moreover, Hawn said exercising doesn’t only bring positive effects to one’s physical well-being, but also one’s mental health as well. “We all know the physical benefits of exercise but it can also profoundly impact our mental health in an amazing way,” she said.
Reese Witherspoon was among the celebrities who couldn’t help but share their admiration for Hawn in the comments section of the post. “I love you, Goldie,” Witherspoon wrote.
Meanwhile, Hawn's daughter reposted the video on Instagram, as a way of showing support for her mom. “Does it get any cuter…?! I can’t,” Hudson said. She then added the hashtag “#momknowsbest,” sharing just how proud she is of her mother.
Hawn is looking fabulous at 77, so it’s no surprise that the actress pairs her active lifestyle with a healthy diet. She told People in 2020 that not only does she keep things simple and fresh in the kitchen, but she doesn’t go overboard when filling her plate.
“I don’t eat a lot,” Hawn said, and added, “I think we overeat. (And) I drink my green juice every day! I do a lot of juicing, I don’t put a lot of food in my stomach and I don’t mix my foods too much. So if I want to have like protein I’ll just eat a bowl of lentils, I won’t mix it with a bunch of stuff.”
She said she also doesn’t push herself too far when it comes to exercise. “If I don’t have an hour, I’ll do 15 minute intervals. Actually, it’s a very good thing to do. If you’re taxing yourself too much in an hour, you’re taxing a lot of things.”
However, even when she’s not hitting the gym, Hawn keeps her body moving even when she’s doing the chores! In an Instagram video posted on Aug. 7, 2020, Hawn is seen gliding around the kitchen while boogieing to Outkast’s “Hey Ya!” with her son while doing the dishes. “Washing dishes doesn’t have to be a chore, it can be a dance! 💃🏼 It’s all up to us ❤️🍽” she wrote in the caption.
In another clip posted on Aug. 29, 2021, the same mother-son duo was shown hand-in-hand dancing to the music of buskers on the street. “Nothing like spontaneously dancing with your children!! #happymaking,” Hawn captioned the post.
Hawn’s active lifestyle is absolutely inspiring and we’re definitely on board if it helps us look anywhere near as good as she does in her 70s!
