At 61, Demi Moore’s Unrecognizable New Look Had Fans Debating Whether She’s Had Plastic Surgery

Demi Moore is an icon in her own right. She's defied cultural norms and feminine expectations throughout her career and still today at 61 years old by honoring health and beauty at any age.

Moore rose to fame in the 1980s. According to Biography.com, Moore hit the big time in 1985 when she portrayed Jules in “St. Elmo’s Fire.” Moore became a core member of the Brat Pack. According to Insider, the term Brat Pack was coined by New York Magazine journalist David Blum to describe Hollywood’s rising young movie stars. The Brat Pack also consisted of Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy.

Moore made her leading lady debut in “Ghost,” where she starred alongside Patrick Swayze. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Many rank “Ghost” as one of Moore’s most outstanding performances, while her roles in “A Few Good Men” and “About Last Night” have been highly lauded as well.

Since then, she’s dominated the screen, appearing in movies such as “Striptease” and “G.I. Jane.” At one point in the late 1990s, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood. She later enjoyed a resurgence with supporting roles in movies including “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” and “Rough Night.”

After stepping away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood to raise her daughters- Moore slowly stepped back into the limelight. These days, the mother, grandmother, actress and ambassador continues to stun her fans because of how young-looking and beautiful she looks at 61. 

However, not all fans were convinced that Moore had chosen to age naturally. Some speculate that she had a great plastic surgeon taking care of her appearance. Read on to learn more about Moore and what fans have to say about her alluring figure. 

In an interview with The New York Times in 2019, Moore shared she struggled with harsh public criticism. Moore said that being in the public eye “was an honor, and with that came a lot of negativity and a lot of judgment towards me, which I’m happy to have held if it made a difference.”

Her daughters have said that the divorce between their parents never impacted their childhood in the first place. In an interview with Larry King, her daughter, Rumer Willis, said: 

“I never had to split up vacations or split up birthdays. They always made an effort to do all of the family events still together and made such an effort to still have our family be as one unit, as opposed to two separate things, which I think really made an impact.”

Aside from being a beautiful role model, Moore is also an extremely beautiful woman. However, her looks have changed over the years, leaving fans to wonder if the actress has ever had any work done.

Speaking with The Guardian back in 2007, Moore addressed the rumors that she'd spent $3 million on plastic surgery to get the body that she has. She told the news outlet: 

"It's irritating. And it isn't true. To fight it feels futile because I feel it perpetuates the myth. But really, the culmination for me was when there were multiple reports I had my knees done. When I read that, I thought: wow, should I have been worried about my knees?"

She added: 

"It's not just my knees. They say I've had multiple face surgeries. I was in getting a facial recently and there were reports that I'd been in there for countless hours, saying I'd had surgical procedures. Am I going to sue? Do I really care?"

A few years later, in 2010, Moore admitted to getting some work done, but it wasn't on her face. Instead, she told British Elle, as reported by Us Weekly:

"I have had something done but it's not on my face. You know what? Maybe one day I'll go under the knife. It just irritates me that people are constantly saying how much I've spent on plastic surgery."

She went on to liken the constant accusations of plastic surgery to "school-yard name-calling." Certainly, it's difficult to be a successful woman, let alone one who's often judged by her looks, but it seems that Moore gets more than her share of accusations from the press and fans alike. Unfortunately, the criticism didn't let up for some time.

After walking the runway at the Fendi show in 2021, Moore was thrilled with the experience and even spoke about it with iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell, who also walked in the same show. She told Campbell during an episode of her "No Filter with Naomi" YouTube series:

"It really was a teenage fantasy fulfilled. I took a moment and I thought, 'Oh my God, I just walked a runway show with some of the biggest models ever.' I literally felt like a little kid."

Moore added that "it was very powerful" and that it felt "special" to her, not necessarily about all the clothes, but rather "the full story." 

"It felt very magical and moving. It was extremely memorable,” she stated. 

But her appearance on the runway got fans talking about how different her face was and that she didn't look like herself at all. As reported by In Touch Weekly, one user on Twitter wrote:

Along with her vulnerable memoir, Moore has used her social media and platform to show her fans her day-to-day life, from sharing sweet family photos to makeup-free selfies. 

Fans have become obsessed with Moore's natural beauty and are begging for her skincare routine. 

For Moore, beauty is more than just skin deep. While speaking on a panel for Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop, the "Indecent Proposal" star sat down with W Magazine and explained that her beauty secret is healthy eating. 

"Look, I don't have any super big secret," she said. "But I definitely think beauty starts on the inside. You can do anything you want to the outside, but if the inside isn't looking or feeling good, then I don't know if anything you do on the outside is going to be good enough."

Another one of the ways Moore keeps her body is by abstaining from drinking alcohol.

Moore pairs her clean diet with a great facialist to keep her youthful appearance. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" actress referred to her treatments with the L.A.-based facialist and energy healer Terri Lawton as a "whole mind-body experience."

"I also really respect her opinion on products," Moore said. "because I know it's very aligned with my view that they have to be active, but really clean."

Moore encourages fans to keep their skin care regimen simple and easy but effective. Another piece of advice she received from her mother is to keep her skin moisturized. In a video for Harper's Bazaar, Moore explained how skincare was enforced by her mother at an early age. 

"My mother always drilled in me no matter what that you should wash, cleanse and moisturize your skin," she said.

In April 2023, Moore showed off her stunning physique in an Instagram post. Moore lounged on an outdoor couch with her dog Pilaf, as she donned a chic and tiny leopard print bikini and aviator sunglasses. In another photo, she smiled happily while crouched on the beach holding her pup. The actress looked radiant and proved no matter her age, she is still as gorgeous as ever.  

Moore captioned the post: "Pilaf takes the beach 🏝️." Tallulah simply commented, "Gorgeous." Meanwhile, actress Amy Landecker wrote, "How are you both real?!" 

In her People Magazine interview, the star admitted that as she ages, she only feels more liberated in her body. "Not being defined by a number and instead being defined by my experience,” she shared.

“You hit 59 and you're already thinking, 'Well, I'm going to be 60.' It feels very liberating. When I think of my grandmother at 60, she in a way seemed to be already resigned to being old. But I feel, in so many ways, more alive and present than ever." 

Often being called an icon, Moore shared that if she can help other women feel good in their own skin- she’s honored to hold that title. 

“To me, what an icon has always signified is somebody who's paved a way and marked something that has moved people or had impact that has been positive. And in that regard, I feel really proud to be put in a category that would be related to that,” the icon admitted. 

Moore can relate to aging women all over the world. However, being in the public eye, she has the platform to talk about how women all over the world feel. "We don't want to look matronly or not feel sexy," she shared. 

Moore took to Instagram again to share photos from the July 4th celebrations in 2023. The star looked as fit and healthy as ever in the snaps she posted of herself enjoying the great outdoors in a tiny blue string bikini with her loyal companion Pilaf by her side. One photo was a close-up of her wearing sunglasses as she held her little pet pooch in her hands. The next photo showed her looking radiant and relaxed as she stretched out on a comforter with Pilaf on her chest. Lastly, Moore also shared a short clip of herself bouncing on a floating deck in the water, proving that at 60, or any age for that matter, one should never hold one’s self back from seizing the day and enjoying life. Moore captioned the post:

“Happy Independence Day! Don’t forget your SPF.”

Her followers were thrilled to see the star so happy and took to the comments to express their disbelief at how the star has managed to stay so fit and look so youthful.

“Demi there are no more adjectives to say how unique and beautiful you are ... thank you for existing and for you time seems to have stopped,” one user wrote, while another commented, “You’re as young as you feel !!!”

Many fans also took to the comments to tell the star how good they thought she looked in the photos. One fan said, “What a body ❤️,” as others expressed similar sentiments. “Reversal of age. Love it and you !! 🙌😍” a fan remarked as another follower wrote:

On Oct. 31, 2023, Moore shared a carousel of photos of her adventure on the Colorado River with river conservationist and guide, hydrologist, environmental planner, and speaker Tillie Walton. 

“We laughed, cried and formed lifelong bonds that I will hold close to my heart forever. I will never truly be able to describe the many ways that this recent nature immersion has impacted me,” she wrote on Instagram. “Standing on the banks of the Colorado River as we all took in its magnificence and beauty, I was reminded of the urgent need to preserve and protect this vital lifeline.” 

Elsewhere in her message, Moore thanked Walton for showing them and advocating for nature’s behalf. Moore’s fans praised her for her incredible physique in one of her photos where she wore a black bikini as she stood by under a waterfall. 

“Incredible Demi what's your secret to staying so young and beautiful 😍,” a user wrote. 

“Bloody hell. She looks constantly amazing! And happy actually. Really like her ever since I read her book, what a story, she seemed so human and nice and honest x,” another commented. 

“Demi has the body of a Goddess," someone praised her, garnering similar comments from other fans: "Goddess Demi, whoever said "Nobody's perfect," never saw YOUR body!"

Walton also returned the love to Moore, saying that the trip “wouldn’t have been the same” without her “incredible heartfelt presence.”

In Hollywood, aging is an especially hot topic. On the internet and in the media, women have been subjected to unfair beauty standards and criticisms about their appearance. The topic of Moore getting surgical enhancement came about again when people online noticed that she looked unrecognizable in her photos from the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards. Moore proved age is just a number in her dazzling silver strapless gown, Page Six reported. 

The “Ghost” actress had everyone astounded when she opted for a straightforward but remarkable look – wearing her brunette hair while carrying a black clutch and strappy black heels. On her Instagram account, where she posted her photos with Paltrow, who was also in attendance, fans were in awe at her beauty. 

“You do not age! Beautiful,” a fan commented, while another echoed “You never age. You are more gorgeous every year!” 

However, it’s a different conversation on Facebook, specifically on People Magazine’s post. 

“I couldn't recognise her,” a user said along with shocked emojis. 

“No, I wouldn’t call that timeless beauty When it isn’t natural. I never would’ve recognized her,” another commented. 

“She looks phony, way too much plastic surgery, what happen to growing old gracefully, wonder what they are compensating for,” someone asked.
