Born on July 1, 1967, Anderson grew up in the small town of Ladysmith in British Columbia, Canada. First discovered at a football game in Vancouver, she posed for the cover of the October 1989 issue of Playboy magazine. Her appearances in Playboy helped launch her career and led to her becoming one of the most recognizable faces in the entertainment industry.

In 1992, Anderson landed her breakout role as C.J. Parker on “Baywatch.” The show was a huge success, and her portrayal of the lifeguard became iconic in the 1990s. In February 2023, Anderson did the unthinkable for a celebrity her age – she appeared for a cover shoot without any makeup. The stunning bare-faced photos published by Women’s Wear Daily showed off the star’s natural beauty, including her adorable freckles and glowing skin. The 57-year-old looked gorgeous and happy as she posed in outfits by Jil Sander, Victoria Beckham and Rick Owens. 

With the photos, Anderson proved to the world she didn’t need makeup to feel comfortable in her skin, something she said as much to the outlet.

“I really feel powerful right now when everything’s very pared down. I like to see my freckles. I like when my hair isn’t done. I like just a really fresh face. I don’t like those injections, and that doesn’t work on me. I want to see what’s going to happen. … I’m accepting myself a lot more these days, and it feels great,” she told the publication. 

It’s an unfortunate truth that many women feel the need to wear makeup to meet beauty and societal standards, which can lead to self-esteem and confidence issues. However, for Anderson, the best beauty trick she shared was to stay content and courageous. 

“Happiness is the best beauty trick. Being brave is sexy. Feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Fighting for freedom starts with one’s own freedom. It is a condition when fighting for others’ freedom. It is a political statement to be happy, to be alive,” Anderson told Entertainment Online.

She also spoke about aging with Howard Stern on his show. When asked about her thoughts on aging, she had this to say: 

“I’m not going to worry about it. We all want to look the best we can look, but I’ve never really been a big worrier about that,” she revealed.

Anderson proved she could walk the talk when she went completely bare-faced at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023. She dazzled onlookers and fans with her glamorous looks – sans makeup – and shared photos on her Instagram with the caption:

“An adventure in Paris with fresh eyes… 🤍 There is beauty in self acceptance, imperfection and love.”

Fans were inspired by Anderson’s bold choice to go makeup-free. “QUEEN!!! Among those hailing Anderson was none other than fellow actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who reposted photos of the star alongside the caption:

She walked the red carpet again without makeup in December 2023 for the Fashion Awards in London, pairing her au naturel look with a pared-down off-white suit ensemble. Fans again reveled in the star’s transformation, calling her “radiant,” “a REAL beauty” and “empowering.”

Anderson wore a bespoke Oscar de la Renta dress and Pandora jewelry for her first appearance at the Met Gala. Speaking to Vogue, she raved about her outfit, which had people turning their heads. 

“I’ve never worn a dress or jewellery like this – it’s so amazing. It doesn’t feel real, it’s like a fantasy… somewhere in between being awake and being in a dream,” she told the publication.

Apart from her ethereal dress, Anderson discussed the importance of attending the annual event with minimal makeup. 

“I know it’s cliché, but beauty comes from within – it’s what you believe about yourself,” Anderson said. “I felt like this girl from Vancouver Island in all these fabulous clothes. And when I took that all away… I was just me. That was the feeling that I wanted to get across, and I think that resonates with people.”

Anderson’s natural look at the Met Gala drew mixed reviews on Instagram. 

“This ain’t it, Pam. Could have done so much better here, especially with the hair. Not a good look at all,” a user said. 

“She looks older than her age. More like a woman in her mid 60s,” another echoed, while another said, “She is glowing but wish she had fuller brows. It’s so distracting and very drag-Queen makeup.” 

However, not everyone was critical of Anderson; some still found time to praise her for her boldness. 

“Pamela is the best and the most beautiful of the whole lot. Simple, elegant, natural and stunning and practical,” a fan said, while another declared that  “She looks better than 90% of women there.”
