At 55, Guy Fieri Prioritizes His Family & Is 'Proud' To Raise His Two Boys And His Late Sister’s Son

There’s no doubt Guy Fieri is one of the most famous chefs of his generation, having won a Daytime Emmy Award in the past for his stint as a television presenter. But behind the limelight, Guy is a dedicated family man. Not only is he a great father to his two sons, but he also took another child in his life and raised him as his own.

For nearly two decades, Guy worked his way to becoming one of the most powerful food celebrities in the world. Not only did he manage to host six shows, but he also went on to manage 85 restaurants at the same time on top of his production company and cigar line. But that doesn’t end there. He also signed a three-year contract with Food Network worth $80 million in May 2021, making him the highest-paid chef in the history of the TV network.

But Guy didn't always have the "fiery" last name that he now goes by. People's special edition of Food Network stars revealed that he was born Guy Ferry. Later on, he changed it for a very touching reason – he wanted to honor his great-grandfather, who immigrated from Italy to the US. The special edition revealed that Guy was raised in Ferndale, California, to a couple of hippie parents who ate macrobiotic meals.

Guy’s interest in gastronomy started when he was young. At 10, he became enamored with soft pretzels that he bought with his allowance at a cart in Tahoe, as he told the Sporkful podcast.

When he got back home to Ferndale, he and his dad built their own pretzel card, and he started selling them at local events, Eater said. The income from the little business then enabled him to study in France as he grew older.

Although he travels coast to coast for his TV show, there are still a couple of foods that Guy won't fathom eating. One is a typical diner staple, while the other is a little less common: eggs and liver.

It’s been nearly two decades since Guy took skyrocketed to fame as the “Mayor of Flavortown” and host of “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.” But he didn’t let that fame get into his head. Up to this day, he still makes sure to live like a normal person.

"I still like to have fun, still stay busy," he told PEOPLE in an interview in 2022. "There are so many experiences to be had, so why not take advantage of it?"

Despite his successes in life, he managed to remain grounded and kept his feet on the ground.

"Most of my friends will (say) I haven't changed. I think it's because when I got into television, I'd already done what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a great dad," he remarked.

Now, 55-year-old Guy is happily living a life with his wife of 30 years, Lori Fieri.

"My wife and I have gone from being married at a young age to being where we are now — to get here, you have to be willing to adapt and understand," Guy told TODAY about his relationship with Lori. "It's all compromise and understanding."

Revealing what he felt the first time he met her, he told Delish: "I knew as soon as I saw her.” "I just knew."

Guy has three children, two biological sons, Hunter Fieri and Ryder Fieri, plus Jules Fieri, his nephew and the son of his late sister Morgan Fieri

When Morgan passed away in 2011 following a battle with melanoma, he took in her son Jules. He has since raised him as his own.

Jules graduated from college at the California State University San Marcos, and the whole family was in full force to show support for him.

"SO PROUD of my nephew Jules for working hard in college at San Marcos and now living the dream working in the music business," he told PEOPLE.

Guy also couldn’t be prouder of what Jules has achieved in life, including a business he is running in Los Angeles.

"My nephew Jules is blowing it up. He's in the music business here in Los Angeles," he said.

In November 2022, Guy shared a photo of his three Fieris – including Jules – whom he said he couldn’t be happier to have around.

“So thankful for these three amazing FIERIS. Wow, I could not be more proud,” he said.

"Family is always the first priority,” he said on the importance of family.

Meanwhile, Guy shared some of the lessons he learned following his sister’s death.

“Life is short, appreciate every day, and tell your friends and family you love them. Really miss my sister,” he said.

Though it’s been more than a decade since his sister’s death, Guy still makes sure to honor his sister on her special day. In September 2022, he shared a photo of him and Morgan from an old magazine to celebrate what would have been her 50th birthday. "My lil sis Morgan's 50th bday is today," he wrote. "Love you. Miss you. Celebrate you."

If Guy’s dedication as a father to his children and his late sister’s son isn’t enough to prove his being a family man, then we don’t know what is. A truly great man to emulate, indeed!
