Heather Graham has had a successful career in film and television. Born on Jan. 29, 1970, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Graham’s father was a retired FBI agent who later became a public speaker. Her mother was a former schoolteacher who became an author of children’s books.
Graham started her acting career after dropping out of college and moving to Hollywood to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Among her first work was a role in the television series “Growing Pains.” She appeared in several television shows and films throughout the 1990s, but it was her role as Rollergirl in the 1997 film “Boogie Nights” that brought her critical acclaim and shot her to fame.
Following her success in “Boogie Nights,” Graham continued to work steadily in Hollywood, appearing in a variety of films such as “Lost in Space,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” “From Hell” and “The Hangover.” She also appeared in the television series “Twin Peaks” and “Scrubs.”
In addition to acting, Graham is also a writer and director. She wrote and directed the film “Half Magic” in 2018, which she also starred in. The film follows three women who use their newfound power and confidence to take control of their lives. Graham has said that she was inspired to write the film after experiencing frustration with the lack of female representation in the entertainment industry.
In addition to her acting and activism, Graham is also known for her striking looks. She has been named one of the sexiest and most stylish women in Hollywood and has been the face of campaigns for brands such as Calvin Klein and Garnier.
Graham has never married and does not have any children. Read on to find out what she has to say about being childless at the age of 54.
Graham has dated a lot of famous men in the past, including Heath Ledger, Josh Lucas, Edward Burns and British rocker Adam Ant. She is now attached to snowboarder John de Neufville. In April 2023, she told People how refreshing it felt to date someone outside of the entertainment industry and said:
“Of course, you want someone to understand your crazy schedule, which is different than a normal job, but I like dating someone who’s not in the business. It puts it in perspective. Sometimes your job becomes so important to you, and then you realize there’s so many other things in life that are happening. It’s not all about the movie business.”
Being “more of a sports guy,” according to Graham, de Neufville is only now catching up with some of her past work.
“Even the ones that I’m so embarrassed of! But he always tells me I was great and that he is really impressed. It’s sweet,” she gushed.
She said she also makes time to love and pamper herself through practicing transcendental meditation, doing yoga and repeating daily affirmations.
“The more that I try being kind to myself, I feel like I can take it into all my other relationships and be more loving in those relationships. As I’ve grown up, I realized I really need to take care of myself first, and then I actually have more to give other people,” she explained.
Graham added she never takes for granted the many blessings in her life and said:
“I still am ambitious, but whenever I can really relax and get into a place of gratitude, then I feel like I really can enjoy all the good things in my life, which I have a lot.”

In the same People interview, Graham also opened up about not having children and expressed disappointment with the pressure society puts on women to become mothers.
“I do feel like as a woman, culturally, you’re not allowed to say, ‘I didn’t want to have kids.’ Because it’s like, what’s wrong with you? I think as a man it’s like, oh cool, you didn’t want to have kids. Now, women are getting more free to make their own choices,” she remarked.
Graham herself has exercised that same freedom and revealed not having children isn’t a decision she regrets at all. She said:
“I don’t feel that I’m missing anything. If you’re meant to have kids, you have kids. And if you’re not meant to have kids, then the universe gives you someone or something to nurture. … At the moment, not having kids, I do feel free. That is pretty great. And I get a lot of sleep.”
The freedom has allowed her to focus more on her career, she said and added: “I do sometimes feel like my projects are little kids; I have started to get more involved in producing and writing and directing.”
Despite her hectic schedule, Graham said she isn’t averse to taking some time to recuperate.
“I feel like you can be more productive if you have some really good downtime — one day of just absolute being a zombie, laying around. … If you’re relaxed, sometimes you’re doing better work,” she said.
As her bright career continues to steam forward, Graham said she was happy the body of work behind her has taken her so far.
