At 51, Cameron Diaz Left Fans ‘So Confused’ In Photos From Rare Appearance With Her Husband

Cameron Diaz was one of Hollywood's top actresses for years, but in more recent years, she's stepped away from the spotlight. At the height of her career, Diaz was one of the most sought-after celebrities and starred in major blockbuster films such as "Charlie’s Angels," "The Holiday," "Bad Teacher" and the "Shrek" franchise. Her filmography speaks for itself, as it has only helped cement Diaz's reputation as a Hollywood A-lister.

Diaz, 51, has received plenty of accolades for her work as an actress. However, in 2014, Diaz decided to take a step back from the spotlight. She starred in the remake of "Annie," in which she played the role of Miss Hanigan. While her role in "Annie" was received well, the film was not a hit. 

However, fans were shocked when Diaz made the decision to step away from the spotlight. She had been one of the highest-paid female actresses over 40 but instead opted for a change. However, she returned for “Back in Action.”

Nowadays, Diaz is focusing more on other career ventures and other aspects of her life. She has authored two health books called "The Body Book," which was released in 2013 and went on to become a New York Times bestseller, and "The Longevity Book," which was released in 2017. 

Diaz is also spending much of her time with her family. She is married to musician Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte and is a happy mother to her daughter Raddix. But when Diaz made a rare appearance with her husband in October 2023, fans were left confused.

Although Diaz was highly known and respected for being an A-lister in Hollywood, she made the decision to step away from acting and from the limelight. Speaking with Kevin Hart on his show "Hart To Heart," as reported by the Independent, Diaz explained, "For my personal, spiritual self, I was realizing that that one part of me that functioned at a high level wasn't enough. It's fun to do, I love it, I love acting, I could go forever, I sometimes feel like I have unlimited energy and inertia."

Diaz added:

"I just looked around and there were so many parts of my life that I wasn't touching and that I wasn't managing, and I couldn't really manage, because everything was so massive."  

About her decision to quit acting, she also explained, "I just really wanted to make my life manageable by me. My routine in a day is literally what I can manage to do by myself. It's the best feeling, I feel whole."

Diaz acted in 2014's "Annie" movie, and after mostly leaving behind the acting world, has swapped it for marriage and motherhood. According to Women's Health, Raddix was delivered via surrogate, and the couple announced her birth in January 2019. Diaz had previously tried to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF), acupuncture and supplements to try to have a baby.

She told InStyle in 2019:

"The way I look at it is that I've given more than half of my life to the public. I feel it's OK for me to take time for myself now to reorganize and choose how I want to come (back) into the world."

Along with enjoying her life as a mother, Diaz is also enjoying spending time with her husband, Madden. He is best known for being the lead guitarist and backing vocalist in the band Good Charlotte alongside his brother Joel Madden. The pair also have a pop-rock group called the Madden Brothers.

Madden and Diaz started dating back in May 2014 when Diaz was 42 years old and Madden was 35. They had known each other for a couple of months at the time, thanks to Madden's brother Joel and Diaz's friend Nicole Richie, who are married to one another. 

According to Hola! Magazine, Diaz said, "I met (Benji) through my now sister-in-law and brother-in-law. I met them first and then they didn't set us up but we were in the same room because of them, and then we found each other." 

Diaz said that when she saw Madden, she thought, "Oh, you, you, you're special. You're the guy. You're the hidden gem in my life." The couple became engaged by the end of 2014 and tied the knot on Jan. 5, 2015.

Diaz and Madden seem to absolutely love being parents to Raddix. In 2020, amid the pandemic, a source close to the couple spoke with People and revealed just how content the family of three is. The source said, "Despite everything that's going on, Cameron and Benji are having the best year as a family ... They are the perfect team and love being parents." The source added, "For years, Cameron wanted to be a mom ... She loves it more than she imagined."

Since leaving the entertainment industry as a leading actress, Diaz has lived a relatively private life. However, according to IMDb, Diaz would appear in the Seth Gordon film “Back in Action” alongside Jamie Foxx. Along with this, Diaz has kept fans updated on her personal life every now and then through her social media.

This is why fans were over the moon when Diaz made a rare appearance alongside her husband. On Oct. 5, 2023, both Benji and Joel posted photos to celebrate the launch of Veeps All Access. The brothers threw a secret Good Charlotte show and thanked their friends and family for showing their support. The photos showed Benji and Diaz together, Joel and Richie together, and a few other combinations.

However, fans were confused after Just Jared posted photos of the couples, and it seemed like Diaz and Richie were standing with the same man. It seemed as though some fans didn’t realize that the Madden brothers were twins!

“I’m so confused right now,” one person commented. “It's the same man no ? 😭,” another asked. Another person questioned, “Isnt the man in slide 1 and 2 the same? Are they different? Am I blind?”

More people couldn’t get over how similar Benji and Joel looked, and as a result, how funny the photos of Diaz and Richie standing beside their respective husbands were.

“Looks like they married the same guy 😂😂,” one person said. Another agreed and said, “The twins look more identical as they age 😂 I didn’t know twins could work like that!”
