The couple met in 2013 when George was filming "The Monuments Men" in Italy. The couple started dating, and George proposed to Amal in April 2014. Their wedding took place in Venice, Italy, in September 2014 and was a star-studded event.

In an interview with David Letterman, George explained how much his priorities changed after meeting Amal.

“I met someone who I would absolutely trade my life for. I met someone (whose) life meant more to me than my life. I had never had that experience before,” he stated.

Amal’s human rights work is nothing short of amazing, and so, too, is her sense of style. She proved to be a powerhouse in both these departments when she appeared at the DVF Awards in Venice on Aug. 31, 2024. Heads likely could not help but turn when the long-legged beauty strutted into the Sala degli Arazzi of the Giorgio Cini Foundation Hall to pick up her well-earned DVF Leadership Award. Looking ever so elegant in pink, Amal opted for a lace, floor-length slip gown in a sweet blush shade, which contrasted beautifully with her tanned skin. The dress was further accentuated by a tulle overskirt that barely grazed the floor. 

Not to be outdone was her perfect partner-in-crime, George, who looked his usual dapper self in a navy blue button-down shirt unbuttoned at the chest and a fitted suit. The media were quick to label Amal “perfection” for her “ethereal” look, while fans gushed about how “magnificently graceful & stylish” she was. One fan even went as far as to call her a “goddess.”

“She is the epitome of class, beauty and intelligence. So lacking in Hollywood these days,” one user remarked, while another said, “Wow. She’s perfection. This is what young women should aspire too (sic). Class! Not kardashians.”

Another user even suggested George lend a helping hand to his equally famous friend. “He married well. May be he can help Brad!”

According to US Weekly, a source close to the couple said the festivities in Venice allowed the pair to spend some date nights and quality time together, adding it’s “so close to their home and they love catching up with friends.” The insider also remarked that “George and Amal are more in love than ever” and couldn’t possibly “picture their lives with anyone else.”

According to Glamour magazine, the crochet dress is deemed the biggest dress trend of 2024. The timeless crochet dress has been one of the most enduring fashion pieces since the 1970s. However, as the years progressed, designers and fashion houses have added nuances to the everlasting crocheted dress to keep up with modern times. 

One of the most notable pieces of the year is Chanel’s crocheted summer dress, designed by Virginie Viard and featured in the Chanel Resort 2023 collection. The dress featured open-and-close panels and pockets with silver sequins. 

On one of Amal and George’s dates, they had a romantic dinner date at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como, Italy. The beautiful lawyer was spotted wearing the crocheted fashion piece, and people had much to say about it on social media. The comments on Amal’s fashion garnered mixed reviews online.  

“The tone of this dress is confusing. On the one hand it's giving cozy knit with pockets and on the other it's an evening gown with sequins. She looks beautiful though,” one user pointed out. 

“silly for a serious lawyer,” one said, echoing another, “Those patch pockets are a crime against this woman. Against all women!” 

While some were brutal, some appreciated how the dress worked well on the 46-year-old lawyer. 

“This dress makes her look even younger. 🤍🤍,” one commented. 

“I think she looks beautiful!” one further raved. 

“Gosh, everything looks great on her,” another wrote. 

In the past, Amal also received comments about her style while wearing a different dress, which was rather playful compared to her established public image. On June 30, 2024, Vogue posted a photo of Amal wearing a ​​pink vintage summer dress. “Childish and cheap,” someone said. Others also said that the dress looked “tacky and tasteless.”
