As a child, have you ever daydreamed that you were walking through a forest full of magical creatures? It turns out that dreams of such nature don't disappear with adulthood; a sculptor near Copenhagen has filled the forest around his home with giant wooden statues.
Sculptor Thomas Dambo came up with the clever idea hoping to draw more people out of their houses to interact with nature. On his website he leaves a map for a scavenger hunt that will lead you to all of the statues he has left in the wood. There are six of them in total, and all of them are exciting to behold.

All of the statues are recycled. They’re made from old palettes, fences, and other wood that had been cast away as not needed. Who would have thought that scrap wood would create such large figures? One of them is so big that you can climb into its mouth. Dambo has succeeded in turning this forest into a magic land out of a fairy tale.
Sometimes we grown-ups are told that to dream is for children. We can’t waste our time thinking of magical beings in the forest; if we let our minds wander, we won’t be taken seriously. Thomas Dambo has ignored that notion, producing something that is a lot of fun for both children and their parents, a scavenger hunt to find the giants.
It’s a healthy way to get your imagination working again after all the stresses of life. It also offers the chance to connect with nature, weaving through trees, and breathing in fresh air as you look for the next statue in the hunt. In all, it makes an experience that’ll have everyone laughing and believing in magic, even if they have to go back to their offices the next day.
