Anne Hathaway turned 38 recently on November 12th. She is not just an Oscar-winning actress but also a mother of two boys, Jonathan, four, and Jack, who had his birthday last month and is now a year old. Hathaway got hitched to her husband businessman Adam Shulman, in 2012 and together with their sons, live on the Upper West Side in New York.
The Princess Diaries actress is relatively private and pretty much does not post any pictures of her boys on her social media accounts. She also rarely speaks in detail about her pregnancies and whether or not she wants to have another baby. But when she does, fans listen. Here are some of Hathaway’s most memorable quotes regarding her experience with motherhood.
Anne Hathaway, 38, is a doting mom to her two sons, Jonathan and Jack. But every parent knows that raising young children is not child’s play in any way.
Last week, the actress revealed in an interview with The Daily Telegraph what the most challenging thing is for her about taking care of her family amid the lockdown.
“Can I curse? The f***ing laundry!” Hathway fervently answered. “But, you know, I’m always hesitant to frame things in the realm of challenges because I think it sets a tone. As a mom, I’ve found tonnes of opportunities.”
She added:
“There’s obviously a learning curve – you just have to be kind to yourself with that because you do feel like you’re doing everything wrong, especially in the early days. But it’s more than just a challenge.”

Hathaway and her husband adhere to their sons’ interests. In an interview in October with Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show, Hathaway discussed her family’s Halloween plans when one fan in the audience asked what her boys were dressing up as for the spooky season.
"Jonathan is very into the Cars movie franchise, so he is going to be Lightning McQueen and Adam is going to be Doc Hudson,” Hathaway answered. "And Jack, who's 11 months old, is climbing on everything, so he's going to be a monkey. And I'm going to be holding him all night, so I will be a tree."
In January 2019, Hathaway told Jimmy Kimmel that she had fun tricking people with “ridiculous,” baby name ideas that she had while she was pregnant with her son, Jonathan, as many celebrities are known to give unconventional names to their children. She also shared that her firstborn is interested in music, but does not take to her singing.
David Livingston/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images“He hates my voice,” said the actress whose rendition of Les Miserables’ I Dreamed a Dream, reached number 69 in the BIllboard Top 100 chart. “He hates it. I’m not allowed to sing in my own house anymore.” But besides that, Hathaway tells Kimmel that she loves motherhood.
The actress spoke to Kimmel again more recently in October and told the host that she is unsure about whether or not she wants a third kid.
“I don’t know, the world is really scary. Some minutes, I'm like, 'Yes, absolutely,' and some minutes the world scares me too much and I think I've got two healthy ones and that feels really great. So I don't really know yet,” she told the talk show host.
Also in October, the actress revealed to hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest that she was pregnant with Jack while filming The Witches. When asked how Jonathan is coping with being a big brother to a newborn, Hathaway said, “There is no coping, only love.”
“Jack’s big enough to wrestle with, and that’s brought a new element to their relationship that’s really cute,” she shared.
And speaking of her new film, Hathaway says that she does not want her kids to watch the Roald Dahl movie remake until they turn 30, worried that they’ll be afraid of her character, the Grand High Witch. According to the star, the prosthetic process took about five hours each time and she had “to have fingers glued on.”

In 2017, the actress said that she does not believe in ‘mom guilt’ and told Elle for the cover story in April 2017 why that is.
Owen Hoffmann/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images"When Johnny was a week old and I was holding him and I was in the ninth level of ecstasy, I just all of a sudden thought, ‘Mommy guilt is invented nonsense,’” she said. “We’re encouraged to judge each other, but we should be turning our focus to the people and institutions who should be supporting us and currently aren’t.”
