Angelina Jolie’s Son Moved Into Her New York Apartment That Doubles As Her Children’s ‘Crash Pad’

In a recent revelation, actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie shared that one of her sons has taken up residence in her former New York City apartment, a space she originally purchased in her 20s. This apartment has since evolved into a communal hub, affectionately termed a “crash pad,” for her six children whenever they find themselves in the city.

Although Angelina has two adult sons, Maddox Jolie, 23 and Pax Jolie, 21 – she did not disclose which of the two now lives in her New York apartment. While her son enjoys the pleasures of The Big Apple, Jolie and the rest of her children still live with her and reside in Los Angeles, California. Angelina’s decision to reside primarily in Los Angeles was influenced by her divorce settlement and custody arrangements with ex-husband actor Brad Pitt. She has expressed intentions to relocate once her youngest children complete their schooling. As a humanitarian who has traveled extensively and adopted children from different continents, Angelina has seen her fair share of the world. She shared her thoughts on settling in Los Angeles.

“I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she stated, highlighting her desire for a change of environment after her children come of age.

The “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” actress recently opened up about navigating life with her son living in her old apartment.

Like any mother, Angelina has had to deal with the usual house-cleaning issues with her children. She revealed that her son asked her for some time to clean up the New York apartment before she could visit him. 

“The other day I said I was going to pop by, and he was like, can you just give me a day to clean?” she said.

The actress shared in amusement how she went from being touched by his thoughtful gesture of cleaning the apartment for her visit to wondering just how untidy it looked that he needed a day to clean it in advance. She added jokingly: 

“I thought, I appreciate that, you should clean up for your mother. But also, how bad is it?” 

While she maintains distance from her New York City apartment, she and the rest of her young brood are making the best out of living in Los Angeles. However, the actress said she would rather raise her children in a more private location, away from Hollywood and the paparazzi.

“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here,” she said.

She also revealed her ideal destination once her children are old enough for her to move from California. 

“I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia,” she said. “I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”
