Angela Lansbury On Overcoming Depression After Losing Her Spouse Of 53 Years

Nothing can compare to the heartbreak of losing someone you love. This is especially true if you've lost a soul mate, as Angela Lansbury did back in 2003 when her husband, Peter Shaw suffered heart failure. The following account shows how one woman courageously overcame depression after such a trauma.

Something that kept Lansbury going was the thought that her late husband would want her to continue with her career. His death was no reason for her to stop living life and building the career they had worked so hard together to establish. Shaw's love was still there inside her heart, providing strength and light for her journey.

Time Is A Healer

The star took her time, she didn't attempt to make any dramatic changes to her life, instead, she allowed herself to surface from the depression when she was ready.  

"I just knew I had to wait, and the moment would arrive when I had to look at the surface again and find a way to mend the rift inside my soul."

When her husband  Peter Shaw died on January 29th, 2003, if it was from congestive heart failure. He was 84 at the time and passed away in the couple's home in California.

Shaw had carved out a career in Hollywood as an agent, but stepped aside when Lansbury won the role of Jessica Fletcher in 'Murder She Wrote' - allowing her star to shine.
