The song “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran has already pulled at the heartstrings of people from all over the world and has gone on to become one of the best modern-day classic love songs. This song has made its mark in the world of romance, and with each variation that has come out, it just seems to get better and better. It’s no wonder that Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo Bocelli decided to sing the song together in a stunning performance, all the while adding their own unique twist.

“Perfect” was released back in 2017, serving as the fourth single from Sheeran’s album “÷ (Divide).” The song was a massive hit all across the world, topping the charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as in other countries such as Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.

With so much success surrounding the beautiful track, it only made sense to add to the excitement, and Sheeran released a duet version of the song alongside Beyoncé in December 2017. Just two weeks later, another duet version of the song was released titled “Perfect Symphony,” which featured Andrea alongside Sheeran.

In 2021, Andrea decided to revive the song “Perfect” once again in duet form, this time with his son Matteo. The musically gifted pair sang the song flawlessly together while adding their own unique take on the popular hit. They decided to sing it in Italian and stunned the world with their grace and tugged at the heartstrings of anyone who has since heard the beautiful track.

Sharing his undeniable talent with the world is nothing new for Andrea. The Italian singer first rose to fame during the 1990s and has since impressed people all over the world with his beautiful operatic voice as well as his gifts in playing a variety of instruments. His voice is one that will certainly go down in history as one of the best in the music industry.

On top of making his mark in the world of music as a soloist, Andrea has also shared his talents with other musicians and singers, including Sheeran. The pair teamed up for an unforgettable version of Sheeran’s song “Perfect” back in October 2017, when they worked together to record their duet version of the popular song. Sheeran traveled to Tuscany, Italy, to meet up with Andrea for the stunning collaboration. The final product was later released in December of that same year.

According to Express, Andrea’s daughter Virginia and his son Matteo were both fans of Sheeran and encouraged their father to team up with the English singer for the now-iconic duet. The orchestral, pop-operatic song has since become extremely popular, similar to the handful of other versions of the song “Perfect.”

Matteo even appeared in the background of the video that Andrea and Sheeran filmed while working on the duet together. “I’ve always been attracted by the voice of Ed Sheeran,” Matteo said.

“I’ve followed him since the very beginning of his career. One day it would be amazing to do (a collaboration with him),” he added.

Back in 2018, Andrea spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his then-new music and what it was like working with Sheeran. The masterful singer talked about how he took a break from releasing music for a bit simply because he needed to find enough songs that he believed in and wanted to record. “The notes are only seven, and the songs are millions and millions,” Andrea explained.

He added, “It’s very difficult to find beautiful songs and to hope they can be worthwhile for people to listen to. We have many, many composers in the world, but few of them are really inspired.”

Andrea’s album, “Si,” was composed of new songs with plenty of duets with impressive artists such as Dua LipaJosh Groban and, of course, Sheeran. His song with Sheeran is called “Amo Soltanto Te.” Andrea said his working relationship with the English singer came from a “mutual sense of respect for each other artistically and as people.”

Despite “Amo Soltanto Te” being a song in a classical format, Andrea said that “it is exquisitely an Ed Sheeran song.” He added that it “perfectly embodied his style and his inspiration.”

It’s clear that Andrea has been moved by Sheeran’s musical abilities over the years, so it’s not surprising that he collaborated with him several times. "Perfect Symphony" began with Sheeran’s warm voice that set up the mood for Andrea’s operatic vocals, which he sang in Italian.

Even more so, Andrea has worked with his own family while still paying homage to all of the great work he did with Sheeran.

Their Mesmerizing Performance

Someone else that Andrea has shared the stage with is his own son. Matteo has really started to come into his own in the music industry, showing that music definitely runs in the Bocelli family’s veins. The musically talented father-son duo have continued to stun the world with their harmonious melodies and their strong, operatic voices.

While Matteo has not yet gotten to collaborate with Sheeran, he has gotten to work with his famous father to deliver their own beautiful version of one of Sheeran’s most popular songs, “Perfect.” Rather than perform the standard version or even the orchestral version, the duo decided to add yet another twist to the mesmerizing song.

For their magical performance, Matteo started the song and sang each word with an immense amount of power and grace. When Andrea came in, he shocked the audience as Italian words flowed from his mouth while he sang the romantic track in his native tongue. With the power of the symphony behind Andrea and Matteo, mixed with the two men’s strong voices, the performance was truly a show-stopping experience.

The pair sang the version a few times together at various locations. It’s clear that many people who have seen the spectacular performance felt it resonated with them and pulled on their heartstrings. Several people expressed how amazed they were by both Andrea and Matteo, praising them both for their individual talents and how they were able to come together so harmoniously.

One person summed it up perfectly and called the duet “beautiful.”
