Alex Trebek has opened up about his struggle in trying to beat his pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
The beloved host of the long-running prime time game show "Jeopardy!" revealed last spring that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Trebek was hopeful that he would continue working as the show entered its 36th season. After his initial round of treatment, he reported the happy news that his cancer was near remission. Over the summer, his numbers were near that of a person who did not have cancer.
However, the news is now grimmer as Trebek has said that he thought they were overoptimistic and he needs to go back for more chemotherapy.

Trebek said to CTV that while the initial round of treatment was extremely successful, they will need to keep finding new ways to fight it off. He admitted that he is now having problems properly enunciating words because of the sores in his mouth that are caused by the chemo. The treatment also caused him to lose his hair and he is now wearing a custom wig when he appears on television. While not many people will notice the changes in Trebek, he said that he is sure that his most observant viewers will pick up on the issues.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly forms of the disease. Over 90% of patients with the disease pass away within five years of the diagnosis according to The American Cancer Society. Despite the grim diagnosis, Trebek has a positive attitude toward fighting cancer. He said that he is not afraid of dying and that he has lived a full and long life. Trebek was clear that he does not think people will ever say that he was taken from them too soon.
