Jean wrote for Insidewink to share the different ways she copes with transitions through life. Her dear friend Diane recently passed away from cancer and she describes the shock that came with the news.

“It was so surreal, as my mind could not comprehend the fact that she was gone…gone from my life in the way that I had been used to being with her.”

The experience inspired her to create a list that would help her cope with grief.

In her opinion, fully experiencing the feelings that are brought on by transitions is better than denying them and feeling more pain later. Exercising, doing something nice for somebody, and sleeping well are also on her list of 13 things. She recommends a calming bath and to reach out to a friend in tough times as well.

Her final piece of advice for those in transition is to say, “And remember…. this too shall pass and you are never alone.”
