Alec Baldwin Owns Up To His Mistake After Skipping Daughter Ireland In Heartfelt Tribute To His Kids

Alec Baldwin is one of Hollywood’s A-list stars thanks to his numerous movie roles and achievements in the industry. However, besides his accomplishments, he is also known for being a family man. Alec is a proud father of eight children. The actor has had his fair share of failed relationships. In 1983, he got engaged to actress Janine Turner, but their engagement did not last long. Besides Turner, Alec was involved in relationships with Lori Loughlin, Lori Singer, Holly Gagnier and Jennifer Love Hewitt. 

After failing in his relationships with these women, Alec met actress Kim Basinger in 1990. The pair portrayed lovers in the 1991 movie, “The Marrying Man.” Basinger and Alec tied the knot on Aug. 19, 1993, and welcomed a daughter, Ireland Baldwin, on Oct. 23, 1995. However, the couple’s marriage didn’t last long as they separated on Dec. 5, 2000, before divorcing two years later on Sept. 3, 2002. 

In August 2011, Alec began a relationship with yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas Baldwin. The lovebirds got engaged less than a year later in April 2012 and walked down the aisle on June 30, 2012. Since tying the knot, Hilaria and Alec have welcomed seven children together, making the latter a father of eight. 

However, Alec forgot the number of kids he had recently when he omitted Ireland’s name from a tribute he posted in honor of his kids on May 5, 2023. Eagle-eyed fans spotted the error and quickly called Alec out. Afterward, he made another post on the same day, admitting to his error and celebrating Ireland. Since late 2021, Alec has been entangled in legal problems. The actor’s issues began on Oct. 21, 2021, when he discharged a prop gun while filming the upcoming movie, “Rust.” The discharge led to the death of the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. Also, director Joel Souza sustained injuries, Following the tragic incident, Hutchins’ family filed a wrongful lawsuit against Alec for the role he played in her death. A year later, Alec and Hutchins’ family reached a settlement in their lawsuit. 

However, the settlement didn’t mean the end of Alec's legal troubles. On Jan. 19, 2023, Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced that the actor would be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. On Jan. 31, 2023, Alec was charged on those counts. However, the second count, which was elevated, came with a mandatory minimum sentence of five years but was dropped after his lawyers argued his case. 

On Feb. 23, 2023, Alec pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge. To Alec's family, loved ones, and fans’ delight, prosecutors dropped the charges against him in April 2023, making him an innocent man. 

Alec has been full of gratitude since the charges against him were dismissed. He has expressed his gratitude to his family members, especially his beautiful wife, Hilaria, and their seven kids, thanking them for standing by him throughout the ordeal. However, while the actor’s appreciation posts have melted hearts, one of them, which he dedicated to his kids, raised eyebrows as he omitted his oldest daughter Ireland from the post.

On May 5, 2023, Alec took to his Instagram page to share pictures of each of his and Hilaria’s seven kids. In the post’s caption, the 65-year-old actor wrote: 

“Seven reasons to carry on during some tough times. I’m not gonna lie, without my family, I don’t know what my life would be.” 

However, some fans noticed that he omitted Ireland, his oldest daughter, who he shares with his ex-wife, Basinger. One of the fans asked Alec: 

“Don’t you have eight children?”

Another user concluded:

“Guess Ireland doesn’t count??”

Noticing his error — either by himself or due to the fans’ comments — Alec made another post. This time, he shared a black-and-white picture of Ireland, which he captioned: 

“We forgot Billy Preston! This one, the first one, is about to make me a grandfather. Oy.” 

Alec's omission of Ireland’s name in his first tribute  made some fans recall his angry 2007 voicemail in which he called her a “thoughtless little pig.” In the leaked voicemail, Alec also threatened to straighten out his oldest daughter, who was 11 years old at the time. 

Alec regretted his actions and thought about committing suicide. However, he spoke to many professionals who helped him. Since then, Alec and Ireland have mended their relationship and are on good terms. 

Signs of their great relationship were observed on May 19, 2023, when he took to his Instagram page to celebrate becoming a grandfather for the first time. In the post, he shared a throwback picture of him holding Ireland as a little girl and captioned it: 

“My first baby had her first baby. Much love to the three of you!”

Despite Alec's omission of Ireland’s name in his first tribute to his kids, all is well between the actor and his first daughter.
