Alec Baldwin Is A Proud Father Of 8: 'It's Unbelievable'

Alec Baldwin is a true Hollywood icon. Having got his start in the 1980s, he's since appeared in the theater as well as in numerous movies and TV shows, showing off both his dramatic and comedic acting chops. Today, Baldwin is still a notable figure in the entertainment industry, cementing his presence as an actor.

Born in April 1958 in Amityville, New York, Baldwin is the eldest of six children. He wasn't the only Baldwin to go into show business – very famously, all three of his brothers, Daniel, William and Stephen Baldwin, all became actors as well. Suffice to say, the Baldwins are a very talented bunch.

Baldwin got his start in the performing arts when he attended New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. His first acting job was in the soap opera "The Doctors," from 1980 to 1982. Only a few years later, his role in "A Streetcar Named Desire" would earn him a Tony Award nomination. 

His acting career has only continued to shine, with his award-winning turn in TV comedies such as "30 Rock" and "Saturday Night Live" showing off his full performance range. In all, Alec has won three Primetime Emmys, three Golden Globes, eight Screen Actors Guild Awards and has been nominated countless times.

There have been many highs and lows in Baldwin's career, including a tragic incident on the set of filming "Rust." However, he has had the support of his family by his side. Baldwin is a proud father of seven children – with an eighth on the way. Let's take a look at Baldwin and his beautiful family.

Baldwin's first marriage was to movie star bombshell Kim Basinger. The couple met while playing lovers in the film "The Marrying Man" back in 1990 and went on to marry in 1993. A few years later, they welcomed their daughter Ireland. However, Baldwin and Basinger separated in 2000, and their divorce was finalized two years later. Today, Ireland is 26 years old and making a name for herself in Hollywood as a model and actress. She has also begun to DJ.

In 2011, Baldwin began dating the woman whom he is currently married to – Hilaria Thomas, a former Manhattan yoga instructor. The couple moved to Greenwich Village in New York in August 2011 and became engaged the following year. They tied the knot in June 2012 and have since welcomed six children together. 

Their six kids include Carmen, 8, Rafael, 6, Leonardo, 5, Romeo, 3, Eduardo, 18 months, and Lucia, 13 months. According to Us Weekly, the children "love having so many siblings to play with."

However, Baldwin and his wife encountered several hardships along the way. Back in November 2019, Hilaria went to Instagram to announce that she had a miscarriage four months into her pregnancy, making it her second miscarriage that year. 

In the caption, she wrote:

"We are very sad to share that today we learned that our baby passed away at four months. We also want you to know that even though we are not OK right now, we will be. We are so lucky with our four healthy babies – and we will never lose sight of this."

Baldwin and his wife continued working at growing their family and happily announced the birth of their fifth child together in September 2020. "We had a baby last night," Hilaria wrote in an Instagram post. "He is perfect and we couldn't be happier." The couple welcomed their sixth just five months later via surrogacy.

In March 2022, Hilaria went to Instagram to announce that she was pregnant with her seventh child with Baldwin, meaning Baldwin will soon be a proud parent to eight kids. Hilaria wrote:

"After many ups and downs over the past few years, we have an exciting up and a huge surprise: another Baldwinito is coming this fall. We were pretty sure our family was complete, and we're beyond happy with this surprise."

It's clear that Baldwin will continue to be a very busy father in the upcoming future, a role that he truly loves, as his family has been there for him during difficult times. In October 2021, Baldwin was filming a now suspended movie called "Rust," when his prop gun was discharged, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, according to BBC. Director Joel Souza was also injured. 

Baldwin posted an emotional video on Instagram in February 2022, confessing how sad he's been since the tragic incident. He also explained just how hard it was to be away from his family and how much he loves them. Baldwin said, "I'm very sad whenever I leave my family."

He continued, "They pull me into a world I never dreamed I would be a part of.. It's unbelievable. I have a good partner. Hug your kids and love your kids and make every day count."
