Tornadoes, although a natural disaster, have a little bit of allure for being mysterious. If you’ve ever seen the aftermath of a destructive tornado, you know they seem a bit biased.
People often feel like tornadoes handpick the things they choose to destroy, leaving other buildings untouched nearby. If your hometown has tornadoes, you know that it’s important to evacuate when disaster decides to strike.

If your hometown has tornadoes, you know that it’s important to evacuate when disaster decides to strike. You likely can recognize the sound of a tornado siren within moments of it happening and are fully prepped on how to handle the following moments. However, not everyone can always get out in time, and sometimes we have to find more creative methods to avoid destruction. Seeking shelter is one of the most important tips for handling these natural disasters, and often we seek out bathrooms or closets without windows in order to keep us safe.

Whatever the case may be, you definitely don’t want to be outdoors during a tornado, where flying debris can hit you and cause severe injury and in some cases, even death. Don’t you remember seeing ‘The Wizard Of Oz?’
We learned from this movie just how crazy these natural disasters can get. One family had little time to prepare for a tornado when it stuck their hometown of Lee County in Alabama on March 3rd of this year. Having less than ten minutes to seek shelter from the incoming funnel, the family did their best with the home they had and were forced into the closet that their grandmother used to use for prayer. But no one could have expected what would happen next.
After the tornado had come and gone, a volunteer with Billy Graham’s Rapid Response Team named Jason Smith was helping out with the aftermath. When he stumbled upon the home where the family was hiding in the prayer closet, he couldn’t believe his eyes. The entire home was flattened to the ground, broken down in the disaster. Except for the prayer closet.
Thankfully, by the grace of some higher power, the entire family survived the disaster in this closet. Now, the story is going viral on social media because others cannot believe how incredible the situation was- and Jason has pictures to prove it! Whether you believe in prayer or not, it seems to have played an impactful role in this story.
