Adele’s powerful vocals and soulful music have put her on the map as one of the most talented singers in the world since she released her first album, “19.” Many of her songs, including “Chasing Pavements,” “Hello,” “Rolling in the Deep,” “Someone Like You” and “Rumour Has It,” have earned her numerous accolades and awards. The songwriter started singing when she was 4, but it was while she was at the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon, United Kingdom, that she became set on the path to a successful music career.
Adele credited Tony Castro, head of the music department at the school, for helping her find her flair for songwriting. The department head insisted that students write their songs, which Adele did and published in the online arts publication “Platforms Magazine.” In an interview with Vogue, she praised Castro and said:
“If it wasn’t for him I probably wouldn’t have written ‘Hometown Glory’ and ‘Daydreamer.’ I think being a teacher is one of the most important jobs in the world. If my career stopped, it’s what I’d do.”
The two songs Adele posted online were then posted to Myspace by a friend, which helped her get a call from XL Recordings’ Richard Russell and signaled the beginning of a great music career.
Adele’s music continues to inspire fans worldwide. More importantly, her camaraderie has won over the hearts of many. The singer once again moved many people when she helped a couple do their gender reveal during her Las Vegas Residency and then burst into tears. The privileged couple posted the video on their Instagram on Aug. 14, 2023, to the delight of many others. Continue reading to know how the couple roped Adele into the surprise announcement.

Adele started her Las Vegas Residency in November 2022 and ended the first round in March 2023. She extended it and began the next set in June 2023 to run till November 2023. The show had initially been slated for Jan. 21, 2022, but just a day before it began, she announced tearfully to fans that it would no longer be held then and had to be postponed.
Adele later explained to Elle in an interview for its October issue:
“It was the worst moment in my career, by far. By far. I was so excited about those shows. It was devastating.”
Although she initially pinned the cancellation down to the COVID-19 pandemic, she later owned up to Elle in the same interview.
“There was just no soul in it,” she revealed. “The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.”
The concert, tagged “Weekends With Adele,” eventually took off and took a unique turn. Adele would go down from the stage to chat or pose for selfies with her fans. Many of those interactions were shared on social media, where they amassed millions of views, likes and comments because of Adele's sense of humor and rapport with the audience.
One such moment that racked up the most views on TikTok was the singer’s acknowledgment of an older man who wanted to show her a picture of his late wife on his phone. Adele had walked through the crowd and spotted the man flashing the picture on his phone but didn’t realize what was happening until she got back on stage. She apologized for overlooking him and said, “I'm so sorry for your loss.”

Adele once again warmed the hearts of fans when they saw a video of the 35-year-old singer pulling off a gender reveal assignment on Instagram on Aug. 14, 2023. The couple in question, Chris Dare and Shantelle Lord, successfully snuck in a banner that read, “Adele will you do our gender reveal?!?”
Adele called the couple to the front of the stage and told them:
“No one's really allowed signs in here. I'm just obsessed that you got one in.”
Before she announced the result, Lord told her that she was 18 weeks gone, but they'd had the unopened envelope since her pregnancy clocked 12 weeks in hopes that the famous singer would read it out for them. Their dream came true when Adele took the envelope.
The mom of one then sat on the steps of the stage without her shoes on to comfortably announce the baby’s sex. She opened the envelope and announced:
“Shantelle and Chris are having a baby … boy!”
She then hugged the expectant parents and congratulated them, after which she burst into tears before a surprised audience.
“That was amazing,” she said and apologized to the crowd for crying. “I'm so happy for you! I'm so happy for you! That's so emotional, oh my God.”
Adele’s next remark was, however, unexpected.
“If and when I get pregnant will you do my gender reveal?” she asked the pregnant woman.
Adele has a 10-year-old son Angelo and is dating NBA agent Rich Paul. She previously told Elle that she wanted more kids.
“I definitely want more kids," she said. “I’m a homemaker and I’m a matriarch, and a stable life helps me with my music.”
Meanwhile, an elated Dare took to Instagram to share the moment.
“POV : Adele did our gender reveal last night!" He added, "@adele you are amazing and we will remember this night for the rest of our lives!"
