Have you ever wondered what happened to some of your favorite childhood stars? Sadly, it’s common for many of these once bright-eyed children to turn down a dark path as the temptations of fame and fortune consume them. Fortunately for several of these stars, they are later able to realize that they need a change in direction and work toward bettering themselves to get back on the right track.
Adam Rich is one of these stars who has been through his fair share of struggles. Rich got his start when he was extremely young, first finding success in commercials. He eventually worked his way up to landing a successful spot on the television series “Eight Is Enough.” The drama-comedy series jump-started the careers of several of the younger actors on the show, including Rich. Fans were enthralled with the series and the stars, so much so that Rich even became known as America’s little brother.
However, Rich’s life following the end of the successful series wasn’t as glamorous as most people would have imagined. He began abusing substances and was on a self-destructive cycle toward losing everything from his career to potentially even his life.
After getting a serious wake-up call, Rich decided to turn his life around and strived to make it big in Hollywood once again. Nowadays, he has his sights set on trying to revive the career he left behind and find the success that he once had. Read on to find out more about Rich’s current net worth, family life, and journey to bettering himself.
His Troubled Path
Rich was born on Oct. 12, 1968, and grew up in Los Angeles, California, with his parents and younger brother. For a brief amount of time, Rich and his family lived in Florida, where he learned how to act at a local gym. He was very active in sports growing up, including baseball, football, bicycle riding, skateboarding, and swimming.
Along with the standard activities most children enjoyed participating in, Rich also found a great love for the arts, including drawing and acting. According to Amo Mama, the young actor first started working toward establishing a career for himself when he was just five years old. He revealed that he had a dream to become a TV star and began starring in several commercials around the time he was eight years old. By the time he turned 9, he had already been in 50 commercials.
From 1977 to 1981, Rich was one of the child stars on the popular ABC show “Eight Is Enough.” The series followed the sometimes funny, sometimes dramatic adventures of the Bradford family, with Rich playing the role of the youngest brother on the show named Nicholas.
He showed a lot of promise and talent during his time on the series, but unfortunately, Rich’s life seemed to take a turn for the worse after the show came to an end. Although he was still landing job after job, his career was set to suffer from the child star curse that so many others have felt eventually made its way to Rich.

Reviving His Career
Rich began living a troubled life and fell into a self-destructive cycle. According to People Pill, he turned to drugs at the age of 14 and dropped out of school when he turned 17. In 1989, Rich almost lost his life from a valium overdose. Just two years later, he was arrested for trying to steal drugs from a pharmacy.
After the near-fatal accident and a long string of horrible moments, Rich finally worked at getting his life back on track. According to People Pill, he was court-ordered to enter a drug treatment program. After completing the program, Rich was released, and he immediately began searching for work. Unfortunately, he had a few hiccups along the way but nowadays appears to be back on the right track.
As of 2021, Rich has no history of being married and doesn’t have any children. He has instead set his focus on reviving his career. According to Celebrity Net Worth, it seems like the actor still has a lot of promise of making it big again, as he has a current net worth of $1 million.
Although many of his former “Eight Is Enough” castmates have let go of their past careers, Rich has not given up. He is still active in the industry and hopes to one day get his career back. The actor also has continued to pitch his movie and television show script ideas to various higher-ups in hopes that one day his ideas and his acting career will see the light of day once again, as reported by People Pill.
