Despite placing second on “American Idol” Season 8, Adam Lambert became one of the most successful talents that the reality-singing competition has ever produced. Next to Jennifer Hudson, Jessica Sanchez, David Archuleta, Katherine McPhee, and many other “Idol” runners-up, Lambert has cemented himself as a “could have been winner” for a majority of people in the country and in the world, as he has proven himself commercially outside of the competition.
In the same year after placing second on “American Idol,” Lambert released his debut album, “For Your Entertainment,” which shot to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. His single, “Whataya Want from Me,” became one of his most popular songs. It even earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Album.
But what Lambert made more prominent in the music industry was his collaboration with the rock band Queen as their lead vocalist for Queen + Adam Lambert. The rave reviews and comparisons to the iconic Freddie Mercury inspired the band to invite Lambert on board full-time. He toured with the famous band from 2014 to 2022, even producing their own album, “Live Around the World.”
He followed up his debut album with a second studio record titled "Trespassing," which was released in 2012. It premiered on the Billboard 200 at number one and made history with Lambert being the first openly gay musician to top the album charts. In 2015, he released his third album titled "The Original High," which debuted on the Billboard 200 at number three.
To date, Lambert is one of the most sought-after male vocalists. It is no wonder that he had everyone cheering for him when he performed during “America's Got Talent: All-Stars” with the acrobatic act Aidan Bryant and Bello Sisters. Read on to learn more about his show-stopping performance!

Since joining Queen, Lambert has continued to tour extensively, including with Queen members, and both through his music and activism he's been a shining voice for the LGBTQ+ community. In 2019 he even started a non-profit organization called Feel Something Foundation, which focuses on supporting projects and organizations that impact the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in regard to education, mental health, homelessness and suicide prevention.
Queen's original guitarist, Brian May, has repeatedly praised Lambert for his range and voice quality. May said that watching Lambert develop as a vocalist is akin to the time he spent watching Mercury work his trade. May told "GuitarWorld,"
"Adam can do all the stuff that Freddie did and more. It doesn’t matter what you throw at Adam — he can do it." He went on to add: "He’s not Freddie, and he’s not pretending to be him, but he has a parallel set of equipment. He knows how to deal with an audience. He’s a born rock star and frontman, so it’s a very vibrant relationship we have with him. We treat Adam exactly the same as we treated Freddie in almost every way."
Undeniably, Lambert’s talent and command on the stage have been exemplary. However, it is quite shocking that despite his greatness, he has yet to win a Grammy Award, a Billboard Music Award, or even an MTV Music Award – making him one of the most underrated artists out there.
But despite not getting the recognition he rightfully deserves, this does not stop Lambert from singing and performing in front of many people with exceptional talent.

During the Grand Finals episode of “AGT: All-Stars” on Feb. 28, 2023, Lambert performed with aerialists Aidan Bryant and Bello Sisters for their championship performance. While Lambert was performing Sia’s iconic hit “Chandelier” at the top of his lungs almost effortlessly, the trio performed high-risk acrobatic stunts behind and on top of him,
“I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier. I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist, like it doesn't exist. I'm gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry” he sang.
After their performance, Lambert thought that he had a deja vu moment when one of the judges from back in his “American Idol” days, Simon Cowell, was there on the judge's panel on “AGT: All-Stars.”
“I’m having major déjà vu. This is too weird,” he quipped before Cowell said in return: “This time I’m going to be nice because, Adam, you are honestly one of the nicest people in show business I’ve ever met. Such a star, I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved.”
Later that same night, Aidan Bryant and Bello Sisters were crowned as the winners of “AGT: All-Stars.”
As soon as the video was uploaded online, people took the time to gush over Lambert’s powerful performance.
“Adam Lambert still hands down one of the most phenomenal male singers of all times. There is nothing that he can’t sing,” someone said.
“Adam’s one of the only guys who can sing a song in a women’s key and still go above and beyond. And the facts he’s in his 40s and still doing it is impressive,” another shared.
“Adam Lambert was the only performer on American Idol that Simon Cowell gave a standing ovation. This must have been quite the reunion for them,” a user recalled.
