Mar 31, 2016 by apost team
This mask is the perfect remedy for irritated or blemished skin.
Thyme is a time-honored antibacterial herb, which helps fight acne and raw honey can heal and soothe a number of inflamed conditions. Tamanu is a well-researched and marvelous oil that is added to the list of ingredients because of its ability to heal damaged skin, scar tissue, and numerous other skin diseases. French green clay rounds off the recipe and helps to rid the skin of any impurities.
This mask will cleanse and refresh your skin without withdrawing any moisture.
Thyme & Raw Honey Mask
Makes one application
Ingredients:
-
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
-
½ teaspoon French green clay
-
½ to 1 teaspoon raw honey
-
¼ teaspoon tamanu oil
Preparation:
Grind the thyme leaves with an electric coffee grinder or classic mortar and pestle, then strain with a fine mesh strainer. This should make about ½ teaspoon thyme powder.
Stir the thyme powder and clay together in a small bowl, then add the honey and tamanu oil. If you have very oily skin, you should probably skip the oil and add more honey instead, if necessary, until the ingredients turn into a thick paste.
Generously spread the mask across your face and neck with your fingers and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. Due to the honey the mask will be a little sticky, so don’t be surprised if it can’t be applied as smoothly and evenly as you thought.
To remove the mask, soak a towel in hot water. Put the towel on your face and neck for about 30 seconds and then gently wipe it off. You may need to repeat this process a couple of times until the mask has been completely removed from your skin. Rinse off any remains with clean running water.
Alternatively: If you can’t get your hands on any French green clay, try kaolin or another kind of cosmetic clay instead.
