According to Popular Military, this innovative program matches retired army horses with human veterans. George Whitaker is the veteran who adopted Quincy as his horse. Quincy suffers from a chronic condition caused by nerve damage in the hooves called navicular disease. Whitaker is determined to ensure that Quincy lives his retirement with the peace and comfort that he deserves. Quincy now lives on a farm that specializes in the rehabilitation of horses. Whitaker said that he plans to give Quincy a high quality of life on the farm as his companion.
"As long as he has a quality of life he will live on the farm — forever,” Whitaker told Popular Military.
