Most animal lovers know how our pets can sense when we are not feeling well. Those are the times when they want to give us extra attention. This was true when a man went to great lengths to make sure his dying wife got to see their dog one last time.

As the man described on Reddit, his wife had major surgery that did not go well. Although she could speak, she could not eat or drink and was dependent on IVs and pain pills.

At one point, she was able to ask her husband if he could bring in their beloved dog so she could see him one last time. Dogs weren't allowed in the hospital, so the man knew he would need to be ingenious, particularly since their dog was a 50-pound Australian shepherd.

The man realized the dog was just the right size to fit into a regular suitcase. He placed her in it and drove her to the hospital with the suitcase unzipped. He says when they got the hospital, he told her what was going to happen and who they were going to see.

The man says that amazingly, the dog never made any noise at all. When he carried the suitcase past the front desk, he simply said that he was bringing some things for his wife, and no one said anything.

His wife was asleep when they arrived in the room. He said the dog jumped up on the bed without touching any of the wires or the IV and lay there on her chest for about 20 minutes until she woke up.

His wife smiled and held the dog for about an hour, and the dog simply licked her face and stayed quiet. They were discovered by a nurse, but she promised she would not tell anyone. Eventually, the man and his dog had to leave, and his wife died a few days later. He says his dog still thinks they are going to visit her when he gets the suitcase out.
