Going to the airport can be a hassle. From finding a parking spot to waiting for a security check, it takes time to finally reach your flight. As you prepare for your next flight, this list will give you a few surprising things to consider. While you know that the security team will check your passport, you probably did not know just how much information they will gather about you.

1. They See You Naked

When you go through security, they are probably collecting more information than you ever realized. Depending on the airport, there might be special scanners that can actually see you naked. These scanners make you lift up your arms as you go through it. They show exactly what your body looks like, so the airport staff can actually see you naked. Because of this, these scanners have even received the name the Naked Scanner.

2. They Analyze Your Behavior

The security team is not just looking at your body. They are also watching your behavior to see if you are doing anything suspicious or unusual. Airports employee people called profilers. Their job is to look at your gestures, behavior and demeanor when you are going through the airport. They are trying to see if you are demonstrating any signs of anxiety like glancing around a lot, licking your lips or scratching your face.

If they do see suspicious behavior, they will pull you aside for an extra inspection. They want to see if there is a specific, dangerous reason why you are so anxious. These profilers are generally located in passport control and the main halls to spot suspicious travelers.

3. They Know If You Are Aggressive

In the larger airports, there are special cameras that look for people who are drunk or on drugs. These unique cameras can even pinpoint aggressive individuals. The cameras then send this information to a computer that highlights aggressive people in red. If you end up appearing aggressive on the computer screen, a security guard will stop you for a more detailed inspection.

4. They Do Not Actually Know When Your Luggage Is Sent to the Wrong Country

If you have ever lost your luggage on a flight, you know exactly how annoying it can be. This happens because the entire system is automated. The scanners look at the barcode on your baggage and use this information to send it to the right place. Sometimes, the scanner will send it to the wrong place if you have left a sticker on your luggage from a previous trip. It cannot tell which barcode is the right one, so it just scans the first sticker that it sees.

5. Dogs Check Your Bags

Dogs have an amazingly powerful sense of smell. Before your baggage gets on the plane, it has to go through five different security checks. One of the checks involves a trained dog. The dog sniffs all of the baggage for dangerous chemicals and drugs.

6. Food Is Constantly Ready

The airport is most likely cooking as you stand in the security line. Most airports are designed with industrial kitchens that prepare food for passengers. These kitchens will typically work for multiple airlines. Since the food on your flight has to be cooked 6 to 10 hours before the actual flight, these kitchens work around the clock to get the meals ready.

7. Dispatchers Control Parked Planes

Dispatchers are responsible for controlling planes while they are in the sky, but they also control their movement on the ground. A typical dispatcher will have five different monitors. These monitors give them information like the location of different planes and the weather conditions. Once the plane is on the ground, the dispatcher still controls where the plane goes to park.

8. They Do Not Care About Visas to Other Countries

If you are traveling abroad and your visa expires, you end up getting deported by the airline that took you to that country. The ticket is purchased by the person who brought you to the country so that you can return home for free.

9. They Know Everything That You Have Held

At some airports, the security team will make you rub your hands with a piece of fabric. Then, your hands are placed in a special machine. This unique machine is known as an atomizer. It is basically looking for dangerous drugs or explosives.

Before the machine is used for the day, the staff members put samples of dangerous drugs and explosives into the machine. This allows the machine to memorize these scents. When you place your hands in the machine, it is looking for the same chemicals. If the machine scents a dangerous chemical, it alerts the security team about the danger.
