9 Signs That Your Life Is In Need Of A Detox
Sep 03, 2018 by apost team
As a society, we've decided that it's acceptable to be overwhelmed, overscheduled, and overworked. These 9 signs are an indicator that you need to do some detoxing.
1. There are too many negative people around you.
When you're around negative people, your psyche gets drained. Some individuals constantly judge, criticize, and even abuse. No matter what situation you're in, this type of person always has negative input. If their toxicity is becoming a problem for you, you need to fix the situation. This person's negativity is not your responsibility. You are entitled to a happy and positive life, free of negative influences. Stop talking to the person, stop thinking about them, don't stalk their social media, don't write; act like there's a restraining order between you. It's difficult, but it's well worth it in the end.

2. You're spending too much money.
So many people haven't sat down and planned out their monthly budget. When people don't have a budget, they don't know how to spend their paychecks. Free spreadsheets are available through the internet. Alternatively, you might use a phone app, or even traditional paper and pen. If you find yourself spending excessively with your credit cards and racking up debt, it's time for a change. Compare the balance you owe with the credit you currently have available. Is the balance greater than half of the credit? If so, that's a bad sign.
3. You haven't been taking care of your body.
It's easy for the body to accumulate toxins. Sometimes, it happens so slowly that we don't even notice. Consuming unhealthy food, drinking too much liquor, and not exercising are great ways to encourage toxin buildup in the body. If you find yourself getting sick often, breaking out consistently, struggling to fall asleep, failing to have regular meals, losing focus at work, and feeling sore and painful, it might be time for some lifestyle changes.
4. Your space is too cluttered.
How many material objects do you have? Do they just seem to keep piling up? If you're living in a cluttered space, it might be time to go through your things and get rid of everything that isn't important. Clutter is often a result of having excess amounts of different objects that are taking up space without serving a purpose. But clutter occupies too much space in your brain to let it sit.
5. You never disconnect from social media.
Technology is incredible, and the way the world is constantly evolving to keep people connected is miraculous. But overusing and depending upon technology can be toxic to your mental health. Technology is great for catching up with friends who live far away, but you need to make sure you're also living in the moment. Are you ignoring real life experiences and people in favor of your phone screen? You might need to find a healthier balance.
6. You're never alone.
Our society favors people who are able to socialize, both in the workplace and outside of it. Introverts can have a hard time with this principle. Even extroverts need to have quiet time for themselves as well. Being around people at all times can be exhausting and overstimulating, and it adds greatly to stress. This goes doubly for service workers like cashiers, waitresses, and fast food employees. You have to perform a chipper attitude even when people are being rude or downright nasty to you. Take some time for yourself. Relax. Breathe.
7. You multitask constantly.
The lives people lead today are far busier than the lives of people just a few hundred years ago. For many people, time is a luxury. A lot of people work two jobs, come home and do their household chores, support their family, and still have to find time for sleep and leisure. If you're always doing two things at once, and you never seem able to find time to yourself, you might want to see if you can fix your schedule.
8. You're not in touch with your spiritual needs.
Spiritual needs don't have to be religious. Atheists need to nurture their soul just as much as religious people. If you have a religion or practice, it's important not to neglect it. Your religion should make you feel happier and more at peace. Atheists and other people without religions may prefer to get in touch with themselves instead of a god. That's a perfectly acceptable spiritual alternative. You need to make sure your soul is taken care of. Or at least your mind, if you don't believe in souls.
9. You hate work with a burning passion.
Jobs are a necessity for the majority of people. You need to get a paycheck so you can keep surviving. Many people punch in to work, complete their mandated eight hours, and then get out as fast as possible. Most people aren't able to find the perfect job for themselves. There's not a lot that you can do about this. But if your work is so stressful that you're bringing that stress home with you, you might need to make some changes. They may be changes within the workplace, like setting boundaries and adhering more strictly to scheduling. But if you really hate your job, you might want to leave your workplace entirely and find a healthier one.
