Kirk Cameron was a teenage heartthrob in the 1980s. He started acting when he was 9 and gained national prominence as a 14-year-old with his time as Mike Seaver in “Growing Pains,” which ran from 1985 to 1992. Kirk became every teenage girl’s dream, and his face was plastered on posters in many a teenage girl’s bedroom.
At the height of his career in Hollywood, Kirk made a life-changing decision. The then 17-year-old, who had previously prided himself on being an atheist, went to church with a friend’s dad and found religion. Shortly after, he married his co-star in “Growing Pains,” Chelsea Noble. Kirk was 20 at this time but has said it was the best decision he had ever made.
The couple collaborated on projects frequently and made it a point to pray together over the years to keep their relationship strong. They also communicate effectively whenever there is a misunderstanding. In 2015, during their 24th wedding anniversary, Kirk shared that God gave him a more significant gift than he deserved in the form of Noble.
Kirk and Noble are parents to six children, four of whom are adopted. The pair adopted their first four children, Jack Cameron, Isabella Cameron, Ahna Cameron and Luke Cameron, before welcoming their two biological children: Olivia Cameron and James Cameron.
The couple raised their children with love, and their kids have often spoken about it. They are also in awe of their dad’s devotion to his family. In a 2008 interview with Today on Sept. 22, Kirk shared his intense commitment to his wife by revealing his vow never to kiss any woman besides his wife. Kirk is often considered controversial because of his faith and political views. He is an outspoken Evangelical Christian who hasn’t shied away from condemning the public school system, sharing his views on the LGBTQ community and supporting Donald Trump.
This made him an outlier in the mostly liberal and progressive entertainment industry, something he is fully aware of.
“I’m kind of a Hollywood freak. I didn’t really turn out the way most people turn out growing up in this industry,” he said per Religion News.
Indeed, Kirk didn’t turn out like most of his Hollywood peers. From being a teen idol renowned for his role in a popular TV show, the actor transitioned to making faith-based content, often seen on his Instagram page. He has written books for both children and adults, guiding believers on how to model their marriages after the Bible.
The “Unstoppable” actor taught that people should “worry more about their own responsibilities than their spouses.” Shortly after, his sister, Cameron Candace Bure, also spoke about how submission and meekness work in her marriage.
“It is strength under control, it is bridled strength. And that’s what I choose to have in my marriage,” Bure wrote in her book, “Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose.”
Despite the criticisms Kirk has faced over the years, he remains unfazed and doesn’t mind that some in Hollywood despise his conservative values. He continues to make a case for everything he believes in, including discussing how technology affects children. Through his 2018 film “CONNECT,” Kirk urged parents to set boundaries on technology use for their children.
“I want to protect my kids too. There are ways that we must protect our kids, but the real battle is the battle for the heart,” he said.

Kirk values his marriage and family deeply. He told Today on Sept. 22, 2008, that he had vowed never to kiss any woman besides his wife, Noble. He disclosed this after filming “Fireproof,” during which Kirk needed to kiss co-star Erin Bethea for a scene in the movie. However, he refused.
Producers eventually had Noble dress as Bethea’s character for the kissing scene, and she was filmed in silhouette.
“I have a commitment not to kiss any other woman,” he told Today, “So when I’m kissing my wife, we’re actually husband and wife honoring marriage behind the scenes.”
Kirk and Noble emphasized equal love and treatment for all their children. Noble shared that she and her brother were adopted and decided to adopt first to let their kids know they were not the second choice. In an interview with EWTN on March 8, 2019, Noble said of adoption:
“Once a baby is placed in your arms, or a child of any age, and you’re their mom or their dad, I just think there’s a special bond that does come straight from God. It doesn’t necessarily come from your body.”
While discussing raising biological and adopted kids together, the actress added:
“We always said, you sort of forget who’s adopted and who’s not adopted.”
Kirk and Noble’s children have stayed close despite their racial and biological differences. The couple’s kids are proud of Kirk and don’t hide their admiration for him. On June 18, 2023, Ahna celebrated Father’s Day with a heartwarming tribute to her dad. She shared a picture of herself and Kirk and captioned it:

In July 2024, Kirk and his family left California, where he was born and raised, to move to Tennessee. He had been mulling leaving Hollywood behind since 2021 when he wrote in a Facebook post:
“While there are many beautiful aspects of California, there are also some... not so great factors 😂 and recently I’ve been tossing around the idea of looking for a new property and some land in another state, where taxes are lower, patriotism is higher, and biblical values of faith and family are celebrated.”
Tennessee’s growing entertainment industry was one of the reasons behind Kirk’s decision, among others, such as lower taxes and the fact that many Californians had made the move, too. He also said there was a “flood of talent” leaving Hollywood, alluding to Mark Wahlberg’s move to Las Vegas and Sylvester Stallone’s move to Florida, among others.
“If everything hits the fan and there’s some serious economic problems and division going on, they want to be around people (who think) like they think who are all about God, family, and country. It’s a really nice place to be,” he said, adding the people there had “good wholesome values” and that he wanted to “be around like-minded people for safety and for security.”
Soon after moving, another significant change hit Kirk’s life. At the age of 54, he became a grandfather with the birth of his first grandchild in September 2024. In a social media post, he shared photos of him with little baby Maya Jeanne Noble Bower.

Our beautiful baby girl just had a beautiful baby girl, and we can hardly wait to spend every minute with her and shower her with love. Welcome to the world, Maya Jeanne Noble Bower.
