How can a person be wearing a wig and makeup for 50 years and never be noticed by the people around? This is the story of a woman named Joann Hopkins, she is 73 years old.
There are many reasons why women wear wigs and makeup. It may be part of their profession, to impress someone, to change their appearances once in a while, to look stunning, or maybe even to hide from authorities as always portrayed in most Hollywood movies.
There may still be a million more reason for this, and unfortunately, one sad reason for this is because some women feel that they are not beautiful enough if they are not wearing one.

Everyone is unique. Natural beauty is a gift, but still, a lot of women feel insecure. They purchase a lot of cosmetics and beauty products because they want to look beautiful in every given situation.
It was her insecurity that led Joann to hide her real self almost entirely from her husband and to all other people in her life for more than 50 years. Think it's unimaginable? Continue reading her story.
Joann used wigs and makeup to hide. She’s been living that kind of life to the extent that even to her own husband, she was almost always hiding. She would even sleep with him with her makeup on.
“My husband has seen me without any makeup on, and it’s always a shock for him,” she recalled.
It was really a struggle for her, and she was doing it for more than 50 years.
But after five decades, Joann finally came to a realization that what she was doing was insane. She felt she had enough and it's time to stop. So, she finally decided that she will be an example to women, for women to accept themselves and not hide behind their artificial selves.
So, for the first time, she took off her wig and makeup in public and really felt good about herself. With her bare self and charming smile, everyone was stunned to see her.
Don’t you think this is an amazing story? Can you be brave enough to love your real self and not worry about what other people might think of you? Set yourself free, because you are you. Celebrate yourself because you are unique.
